how to enter the area inside the Slytherin common room

That's the girl's section, canonically guys aren't allowed in the girl's bedrooms but the girls are allowed in the guy's bedrooms.

Depending on whether you choose to be a Witch or Wizard, you can't access the other genders dorms. Which I think is hilarious because no one is actually in either of them.

actually, it depends on the person if they identify as witch "this choice will determine your player character's dormitory" says that at the beginning of the game . Pretty sure if a magic hat can ascertain what house you want to be in magic stairs could ascertain if you feel like a witch or wizard.

Nope. Dormitories are divided into male and female and stairs do not allow males into the female section. It has nothing to do with any kind of transphobia as stairs are incapable of being afraid. Regardless of whether you think you are a pidgeon, a smidget or the reincarnation of Salazar Slytherin. Stairs do not care. They allow females and stop males.
