So we are evil right?
I mean there are a couple clues to this.
1. when you "defeat" (kill) the goblins on ranrok's side he goes you only have ranrok to blame. You see murder's there defence is he MADE me kill him. like... that aint a normal thing to say.
2. when you "defeat" (kill) poachers, he goes - good riddance. poaching is not good, but dang you're murdering them and going you deserve that... pretty psycho to me.
3. "rescue" animals. He's not really "rescuing" anything. Dude is going and grabbing them from their natural habitat and putting them in cages. Albeit the cage are huge without bars, but its a restricted space. Hence its still a cage. Then we are using those animals we "save" to get goods from to upgrade and stuff. How are we any different than poachers except for the fact that we dont "kill" them...
EDIT: 4. we also kill spiders, dogs, giant frogs, etc... because they are "deadly" and our MC says, its too bad you're a giant deadly spider. so because you are giant and deadly you gotta died? not very "animal rescue" like no?
EDIT2: 5. we also murder a bunch of dark wizards lol.

this point has nothing to do with our MC, but its pretty dang dark.
Tobbs gets killed by spiders because his "master" forced him into a dangerous area to unfairly punish the poor guy. He did his hardest but he still succumb to his wounds. Dude, how is this made for kids?

Yes.

The body count your Teenaged PC racks up from mass murdering poachers and goblins and dark wizards is concerning.... but it gets kicked up to 11 if you start casting the forbidden curses.

You really can start to wonder if your playing a teenage psychopathic serial killer.

Everyone the PC kills is admittedly in self defense. And the goblins are just angry because wizards won't teach them wand magic. Even though they've got magic of their own which they keep to themselves.

Death is a bit much for poaching but they don't exactly give you a choice.

I assume we paid the kings taxes on the animal abduction license thus we aren't poaching it is merely semantics!

Well, i mean even Harry Potter and Dumbledore's army even in self defense didnt kill THAT many people, really anywhere near approaching the body count here.

I guess the main character is more or less use to this sort of thing (?)
Other than them being an established apprentice to Prof. Fig, their past is pretty ambiguous...

(maybe they're similar to Indiana Jones in background, idk)

Bit of a limitation of the game since even Expelliarmus kills people for some reason.

They clearly wanted to make magic feel more powerful and a bit darker, in all the old games you could hurt people with like flipendo but I'd never thought you could directly kill someone with it without like knocking them off a cliff or something.

By the end of all this, most people on these boards are going to make Voldemort look like Gandhi. The Non-Civ version, I mean.

Not sure its a limitation, if you do the dueling club, when you defeat other students they just sit on the ground until the fight is over. So the mechanic is in the game to only subdue enemies.

Except that we know his first witnessed death was in the opening cutscene with the thestrals appearing for him.

Its As evil as your head canon allows.. Personally my Hufflepuff character sees it all as Auror training.. Its all ok as long as only evil ♥♥♥♥ gets killed, anything that tries to kill me is evil ♥♥♥♥ in my books..
