Stuck on a Merlin's trial

I am level 10 on a story quest (Merlin's Trial) and I have to defeat the 2 thieves. The npc i am helping goes back to her position but nothing happens. And the fight music just keeps on playing.
It's a story quest so... I just can't progress anymore.

Try to abandon the quest and restart it. Hopefully it does a refresh on it. Best advise i can give since i never had this issue.

While in combat, you cannot interact with chests and many other such things. You either have to move far enough away that combat drops, or defeat the incited foes.

Look at your mini-map for a red mark of any foes nearby. There is definitely another foe still alive. Worst case, close and reopening the game might be needed.

Merlin quests do not involve combat. These are simply NPCs near the Merlin trial location.

Are you doing the quest with Nora Treadwell ?

After you defeat the first two, some more spawn in and you have to defeat them. They spawn in on the road behind her tent, look for them there.

Yes, this quest will involve combat which is why you hear the music. Try abandoning the quest and restarting if nothing else works. Like it was mentioned above, you need to defeat them two and then others will spawn in.

if it is the nora one there should be 2 or so normal goons and then a red one pops up . once they all cleared should be good to go.
