" Search the tower " bug

just started the quest, I got through the front door easily (I picked up the note in the tent) and prof Fig opened the front door, but I've gotten up the tower to the second door and it's locked? Its a level 3 lock and I haven't been taught the unlocking spell yet and the professor isn't doing anything, am I supposed to unlock it or is the professor supposed to? Or did I miss something? Apparently this quest is very buggy from what other people are saying

professor fig did comment on the statue after my character commented on it but even with revellio theres no ancient magic or anything in the tower

Bottom floor of the tower, right in the smack dab middle of the floor.

This is the door I need to get through, but I can't unlock it, prof Fig was right here at one point but hes gotten lost because of his pathfinding lol

In this picture see the door frame in the wall? That turns into a door when you stand in the ancient magic spot.

Also Fig didn't wander off he left. You have to do the trial alone.

In this picture see the door frame in the wall? That turns into a door when you stand in the ancient magic spot.

It didn't show up the first time, I stood over that area a few times - I reset the quest by leaving the area and now the ancient magic spot is appearing but I can't interact with it at all.
I interacted with the statue and then the notes on the desk to the right in this picture but now the ancient magic spot is gone after interacting with them.

Thanks buddy, I think maybe I walked into the broom or something and I couldn't interact with it, which didn't trigger the painting.

Ok you come in, go upstairs, talk to percival's picture frame, its directly across from that locked door, after that go back downstairs to that spot and you'll get a spot, and the door to the trial will open.

Thanks again my dude, I'll leave all this here for someone in the future incase that broom glitch didn't get patched or something, the painting never triggered for me the first time around.
