Your left hand can reach all the buttons anyway, and shift speed is a toggle.
So you will only have to press it once, then ctrl/space. and B when landing.
Don't use the mounts though, they're not instant, broom only. :D

check those out
1) Use the shift toggle for mid/high altitude cruise control
2) Never use shift for anything BUT cruise control flight.
3) Low altitude flight is the bees knees. Boosting in low-alt doesn't drain the boost meter.
4) Everything gets better with upgrades.
Once I got used to flight in low-alt and boosting everywhere, my broomstick had a new appeal.
Once you get used to it you can have fun swooping around and e-z u-turns no problem.
I also recommend the better controls and keybinds mods mentioned above.
