Can't edit what on the walls in the room of requirement

I feel like I'm either doing something very wrong or my games bugged but I can't edit anything on the walls in the room of requirement. Anytime I go to place something it's just says that the space is occupied even though nothing is on the ground along the wall or hanging on it. Hopefully someone else is having this issue and can give me a solution.

I've noticed if you place an item, then move it, it thinks it's still in the original space and blocks re-placement. Move it further away or delete it, then place it again. Hope that works, it does for me.

same issue here, after deleting the default paintings, i cannot place anything on that wall.
I can put the paintings/mirrors back,but i doesn't accept any other wall item. Just says "space already occupied". Also, i've finished the game, the room is fully expanded, so i'm not trying to build on walls that will be removed by the game later on.

Just save the game when you emptied the wall, and after reload you'll be able to put thing on it
