No, it's not the same thing.

DLC in modern time means anything that you download it and it could be skins, outfits, couple of quests, etc. Something tiny that you not needed.

But Extention pack is always something huge, that gives you new story line for ~10 hours and banch of new mechanics.

Only Quidditch as mini-game could be a DLC, but a new story-line that brought Quidditch as well and mechanics - that's would be a Extation Pack.

Why Blizzard don't call their "addons" (BC/WoTLK/Cataclysm/etc.) as DLC, but call it Extention Pack? Think about it.

We should rename the bad DLCs then, what about Extortion Packs to create a contrast between Expansions and small meaningless DLCs while doing something that looks like a Paronym ?

WB Games and Portkey games said they were not going to make any thing else though..but if this game becomes very successful, then maybe they will.

Wb has said they wanna make this into a franchise meaning atleast 3-4 games they wont let them not do atleast 1 or 2 dlc with how well this game sold the only thing they have said about dlc is wanting to wait till all platforms haa the game

The preorder content is a DLC but wasn't an expansion pack. All expansion packs are DLC, but not all DLC are expansion packs.

It's basically the same. We're just used to DLC being minimal content these days. The Witcher 3's major expansions were also DLC. If it's not part of the main game, and since games generally don't put out expansion pack disks anymore, it's all pretty much DLC as you have to download it.

But I get what you mean. You want substantial DLC. Not minor addons and glorified mods. And I wholeheartedly agree.
