Game might run better on HDD than SSD
I know it sounds stupid, but I've read online a few places that UE4 games are weird with SSDs and have more stuttering, and I personally noticed a mild improvement in Biomutant when playing on my HDD as opposed to my NVMe. The stuttering is still there, but it's less dramatic. I've loaded up a couple of my testing saves for Hogwarts and on my SSD it would always stutter like crazy right after loading, but on my HDD there's zero stutter immediately after loading. It starts to stutter as it normally does when moving around the world, but it seems like they're a little less intense. Not sure, just a thought for some people to try if they haven't.

I can think of literally no reason why this would be the case so long as the hardware and drivers were all working.

according the forums i read it was an engine issue (surprise surprise) that made it not behave well with SSDs. I'm flying around right now and I can not say it is at all worse than when I was on my SSD and it seems like it's a little better. Can't tell if it's placebo or not but it does seem a little better. The one thing I know for a fact isn't placebo is the stutterfest that occurs right after loading in on my SSD vs my HDD. Also weirdly the load times don't seem any longer. On Biomutant they took forever compared to SSD but here I can't tell the difference.

The stutters basically occur still but they're shorter lived and less dramatic, but again it's too early to tell if this is placebo or not.

Maybe it's a problem with my SSDs but I tried it on two different ones, one with OS and one without, and it was the same, and this game and BIomutant are the only games I have problems with (both UE4). I only have one HDD and on it I seem to be getting a bit better performance.

Mine doesn't I had it on HDD then moved it to SSD and it runs better on the SSD if either.

When your other components bottleneck your HDD. In that case you should trash your PC.

Yes, it really does. Just the newest in a line of "fixes". You know there is financial incentive in the form of ad-revenue and affiliates to spew this BS.

I probably can't say anything as Im on recently released new pc parts, but with a nvme m.2 had no issues and no loading screens besides fast traveling, no performance issues.. smooth 60+ frames for the entire game at 1440p native with everything at ultra + ray tracing

Could you possibly twist and mange facts worse than this?
No SSDs are not CAUSING an issue with the game engine. That's not what you read, and you should go read it again.

I'm perfectly fine playing with my SSD and most of my loading screen time only take 3-5 sec.

The SSD issues are usually for older games on older engines, I know antiquated Elder Scrolls/Fallout engine has serious issues with SSDs.

I'm not going to do your research for you. What you read was reference to Unreal Engine 4 and asset loading /streaming stutter. Absolutely no one anywhere ever said it's because of SSD's. That's some serious mangled weird screwed up info. No credible source at least.

Maybe you did read it, but it woulda been from the keyboard of a idiot on some forum. Maybe here on Steam forums, it's pretty bad that way that's for sure.
Now we got people blaming variable refresh rate for game crashes.

Maybe you should .... complete your thought before typing?

From personal experience, the game stutters like ♥♥♥♥ on an HDD and runs much smoother on an SSD.
