Hogwarts Legacy: Flying lesson / following Everett Clopton (bug?)

I followed Everett around the whole castle, back to the yard where the teacher and the brooms are but Everett doesn't stop /land and just keeps circling around the castle. It seems also impossible for me to land the broom even though I am right next to the teacher.

What do I need to do to finish the task?
I already closed and reloaded the game twice.

Ctrl until you're close to the ground, then B to dismount.

It's been happening since launch. Just have to wait for the stupid ravenclaw to land.
It's triggered on about 5 characters for me so far.
