I don't know what to tell you about the problem you're having with the note, but its appearance won't stop you from opening the doors.
Am i supposed to just memorize the note? What if people just did what i did and expected it to read later? If its not a bug and the game just doesnt let you re-read stuff, this is a serious R word moment right there on the game's part
Well, there are a couple of other clues about the solution found on chalkboards in a couple of places, but they're clues, not solutions like the note. The other clue is in the animal depictions themselves. Many of them have prominently countable features (unicorn has 1 horn, five legged thing has five legs, etc.) and you're meant to be able to work it out from there. I think the biggest stumbling block for many is the realization that the animal count starts at zero (like a programmer or wizard, apparently)...but you can still work that out since it comes before the unicorn.
*edit - you can also brute force the doors as there are a limited number of combinations
That isn't his point. You'd have to know you needed the info to take a picture in the first place.
No, his point is specifically about not being able to reopen the note in his inventory, which is a bug.
I've checked pretty much everything, it wasn't in quest items or under any other category category of menu
