Perhaps someone here can help me. I was redo-ing the beginning parts so I can get the achievements for each house making it to the mapping room. However while making each new character, I was never given the option to select my pet. When I started my first character, I recalled that you could select whether you came with an owl, toad or cat or something. You then got to pick how it looked. I think I picked a barn owl or something as it was a golden brown. The pet was then at your bedside in the common room. Yet for all three additional characters, I never saw this option again. Is it skippable or is it only assigned once per account? Thanks!
(I asked a few friends playing as well and they said they never got this option which has me scared it might never have existed and I am somehow left with this memory of something that may never have occurred.)

Hm, this would be news for me. I've never seen any beginning play-through start with picking a pet and I never got such an option.

You can pick an animal on the Wizarding World website, I think, but that's just related to your profile there. Has nothing to do with this game.

I did take an online sorting house quiz, mayhaps I misremembered a question there being as part of the game? So weird because I remember being like “Oh look there’s my owl!”

No idea what game you're thinking of, but it's not this one. There's no pet selection at all.
