how do i get a refund.
this game is bugged, boring, crashes, freeze frames. its literally unplayable. and i honestly dont give a ♥♥♥♥ if you can hold 120 frames. on my pc, it cant. it doesnt matter what pc it is. however if i request a refund they say i cant get one because i have like 5 hours of play time, when truly those hours were just spent with the game open and me on youtube trying to figure out every possible solution to get the game to stop crashing.

I am going to assume your getting error 0000005.... which occurs because you don't have all service packs.

There is. 32, 64, 80, openGL, and many more. You need to have all of them, and get rid of your bloatware that alien comes with.
i already have. :I trust man its not bloatware or error codes.

You buy the game. you can refund it at any point for no reason, as long as your playtime is 2 hours or less.
You have more hours played and want a refund? You will have to write an argumentation with your support ticket and reason why or why not you deserve / desire a refund. And at that point it's up to Steam.
If they grant you the refund, it's a matter of benevolence. If they do not grant you the refund, they are legally in the right and protected.

It also really helps your argument if you haven't requested a refund in a good while too! I've returned unplayable games after 5 hours in menus trying to make it work, under two weeks, full argumentation about that, and got a refund within a working day. Guessing because if a game is just boring, or not what I expected, or really poorly written, I don't ask for a refund. Because that's on me. I only request when I've exhausted all possibility to get it to run. A lot of people around see one thing that offends them and request refunds and Steam folk frown on those sorts.

Can't believe there are people trying to claim that you simply cannot manage a computer if you are getting poor frames. This game's performance is abysmal with significant issues related to the basic configuration of DLSS.

The fact that Nvidia has no game-specific update for this AAA title goes to show there have been significant issues with the launch of this game. Please do not try and make up any other possible reason for this clear ineptitude on the behalf of the developers.

your first mistake is buying an alienware system, saying you have an aurora r13 means nothing, there is so many different specs for those systems and you generally pay through the roof for older hardware just because it has an alienware logo on it.

this game runs fine on old hardware so if your having issues, its on your end, or your specs, so instead of just saying you have an aurora r13, how about you just list your specs because im assuming your running something like the base models with a 1650 super and 12600k in them.

i have a system i built in 2015, that i can still run any game i throw at it on 1440p and high/ultra and is now classed as very old hardware using a 6700k and 1080ti
rtx 3080 and i9-12900F. you said i paid way over what it actually cost but the prices all line up for whats in the alienware, and the same build just with a simple different case costs like 500$ more. sure i could of gotten a different pc with the money but i trust alienware for the most part with looking into a pc. just because i bought a prebuilt doesnt mean i dont know anything about PC's, ive built previous ones before and simply decided to get a aurora after a friend of mine was running an r12 that wasnt too shabby a few years back when i was still building mine.

its not their refund im mad it, im mainly mad that i waited for the update that promised to fix this. wasnt even a week 1. it took around 2 weeks just to fix it which ironically also goes against steams refund policy for broken games. this game runs honestly worse than anthem, on a ps4 which had reports of bricking, crashing, and bugs very similar to this and yet, they fully promised everyone refunds. but WB and Hogwarts? nah.

*and*
*ITS*
*NOT*
*~FIXED~*

idk what more clear sign of poor devs people need. additionally this wasnt a day one fix with millions in the forums now throwing my post to the 3rd or 4th page with the same exact problem. yet people still believe
"haha, simpletons that dont know how to click a few updates or check remove unnecessary apps"

like maybe check their library to see they run higher req. triple AAA's yet have posted 0 problems and have 100's of more hours on them. its not their pc's.

You actually can get a refund. When you go to refund it, don't pick the actual option that directly asks for a refund or else you'll get a bot response that simply checks your playtime.
(Its been a while since I did this exactly) but go to your purchases, find the game and then look for something about asking a question about the product. Then from there describe that the game is basically unplayable for you and how your game-time was racked up by the game running and you trying to play it more so than you actually playing the game. I've refunded a game where I went over the time limit because of how many times I've crashed and how long I spent troubleshooting and sitting through cutscenes, character creation, etc.

With a 4080 I get 120+ no problem without DLSS, without frame generation, DLAA, no ray tracing, 1440p ultra settings. Just small dips in Hogsmeade and Hogwarts, stutter during those dips but I've fixed it to be not bad at all. It is definitely "URE4 stutter", and it doesn't happen anywhere else.
The game runs perfect outside the mentioned areas.

ZOMG UNPLAYABLE GIVE ME TEH REFUND is some serious serious nonsense. It's not that bad at all. "crashes and freezing frames" etc is a user issue.

Also LOL@ Alienware. The very fact you would use a prebuilt is a red flag of user issue let alone a Alienware.

it varies dude. just saw a post where a guy had similar specs to mine and he was talking about crashing. i should change my post because my game doesnt fully crash, just freezes and un-freezes. however what makes it unplayable is stutter during combat, cinematics, freezing and unfreezing on load screens, countless other bugs, everyone is experiencing things the person before or after hasnt. so its not too far to say that what im saying isnt that serious of in contrast.

Hope it works out bro. Nobody should be stuck with something that doesn't work properly.

The gaming industry is rotten and it all our fault. their will all ways be bad performance and bugs in new release titles, Game publishers set a release date they push their devs hard to get the game out on the release date. We gamers encourage this behaviour buy pre-ordering games and buying them on release, what we need to encourage is release the game when its ready. so no pre-orders and only buying games when they don't have game breaking bugs or bad performance issues.

it never going to change it all been going down hill since Oblivion's Horse Armor DLC

Too many variables. He didn't update his gpu driver, gpu driver needs to be clean installed, might need to update chipset driver, maybe Windows is corrupted, maybe ssd is on the way out, maybe his hardware sucks, who knows but people that have all these crazy issues...it's not the game.
Stutter during combat is simply not one of this games issues. You have an issue to sort out.

If no one has given you a real answer yet:

If:
  • Under 2 hours of game play
  • Under 2 weeks owned
Select account details from the top right drop down where your user name is. You should be able to select transaction and options to go along with them.

Do it fast and do not wait:
  • Same reason I nuked Atomic Hearts in under 59 minuets (Slav Jank for AAA price; no thank you.) Devs promises don't hold water when they have your money; so take your money back.
You can refund multiple times:
  • I bought Astroneers twice and refunded it twice.
