Stutter fix that worked for me
I originally tried editing the engine.ini file with a recommended setting and had no luck when the game launched. But I have since tinkered with it based on another users post , and it worked for me.
Path to engine.ini file:
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

I added the following at the end of file:
[SystemSettings]
r.TextureStreaming=0
r.Streaming.PoolSize=2048
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=1

The key line is r.Streaming.PoolSize=2048 . I originally had it set higher, and it didnt make an improvement. But after dropping it to 2048, I get no stuttering even in Hogsmeade. This is with a rtx 3070 at 1440p ultra. Try setting the number to something lower if you have less VRAM.

I did this yesterday.. then I went to check today what were the numbers on the lines I added.. to notice that all the added lines were removed.. do you have to put it on read-only after modifying it?
Tommythecat Feb 24, 2023 @ 3:03pm
Yes - set it to read only.

This didn't help unfortunately.. As I said in another thread, their optimization must suck really bad as if I put the game to ULTRA or LOW, I pretty much have the same FPS... That doesn't make sense xD

I heard the 1/4 vram thing worked but I tried 6144 for my 3090 and it didnt work. Ill try 2048.

I don't know how, but it worked for me! at least in my 3060 will do the medium setting without dropping massive lags

Simply solved my low fps problem. is stable on ultra on my 3070. The game is working great now! I'm using ascendio too, but ascendio alone didn't solved my problem completely. I don't know if only engine.ini editing works and great as is working now. Thanks a lot!

Glad it's working for others too - spread the word - because unlike other fixes, this one apparantly actually works

If it's still not working , try going extra low, even 1024 if you have a card with lower vram. but idk if it will help if your card only has like 2-4gb. worth a shot tho

Dang - that blows my mind that a card like that needs it so low.

I've heard this lowers texture quality - but I honestly haven't noticed a drop .

Someone suggested to turn off the steam overlay.. Better try it :P
Pretty sure I got a little gain from this too.
