You get larger tables with things like 5 small or 3 medium plants on it and you can place multiples of those. Not sure on the maximum number of tables. You can set the decor in the room to the gardening (Botanical?) theme.
Oh yeah I forgot you could change the theme :O
As said above, invest in the multiple pot tables. Also note that some things (e.g., some fertilizer stations, but not all,) can be scaled down by pressing 'Z' if you're finding the space too cluttered. (Also, you can turn ordinary objects into statuary by scaling them up with 'X.')
