played for 1 hour - the most boring 1 hour of my life
Boring setpiece after setpiece
Once you get to Hogwarts there's not much to explore. I found just one puzzle on the bridge, and that's it. Even that old Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban game had Hogwarts be filled to the brim with secrets, hidden passages, and more. Also all rooms seem to be oversized for no reason. There's no tight corridors, tight rooms. It's all massive interconnected halls and massive rooms. I'm not at all surprised that the devs expect you to use fast travel to move around. Walking through these hallways is mind numbing, especially since there's zero interaction with other students. Old Harry Potter games made you learn Hogwarts, and unlock hidden passages to move around more efficiently. Here you just unlock fast travel points... no to mention there's no parkour secrets, or anything like that (the movement wouldn't even allow for it anyway).

It's difficult to take your opinion serious when you lied in your op

This has to be troll bait. Not only does the castle itself have a huge amount to discover, there is a vast area outside of the castle to explore. So either you're a troll or dumb and picked the game up because of hype without actually caring about the IP. Refund and move on.

Maybe bethesda would have done a better job, but their game quality is droping since Fallout New Vegas
There isn't much AAA studios that make outstanding Open Worlds, and that kinda sad
kingdom come
any rockstar game
are great open world games

When was the last open world Rockstar game released

I don't considere WarHorse Studio to be a AAA studio, but yeah, Kingdom Come is a really good open world (one of my favorite game in those last years)
Rock Star games... meh, i never really liked GTA since the IV and never touched a Red Dead Redemption game

Smells like a lying troll to me.

If you want parkour, play Forspoken?

Though the first hour in that game is also horrendous.

You actually needed to play it to know it was boring? Fortunately for the devs though boring video games are in style.

I mean. You could make an argument that this method of handling secret rooms is utterly boring. Your choices are basically either cast spells at every conceivable object until you discover a secret, or look it up and find out where they all are just to go into a tiny room and collect some beans. And you're kidding yourself if you believe the castle in Hogwarts Legacy feels more lifeless than the one in Prisoner of Azkaban. The two aren't even comparable.

Within the first 20 minutes of playing Hogwarts there's literally a side quest to find.. A SECRET ROOM! Wherein you are given clues to find a specific painting in the castle where you cast a spell at a painting and find a tiny room with a box full of loot (much like the Prisoner of Azkaban game, but better because you're not just mindlessly casting at everything to find the secret. You're given actual clues). And not just beans, actual gear you can use. There are quests like this all over the game, in and outside of the castle. This is a much better way of handling secrets around Hogwarts imo. Side quests that allow you to go hunting for them rather than you just running around guessing at everything.

Play the game a little bit more. There are a lot of assumptions in your original post that are just not correct. While I do agree they could have done more to bring everything to life a bit more, including NPC interaction, I don't think there's any shortage of "cool stuff" to find around the game. You just have to actually play the game and find them.
ahahahahah
a side quest to find a "SECRET" room??? unreal handholding. That's not a SECRET in any meaning of the word.

You're still here? Only a lame brain would think that all "secrets" in this game are "handholded."

Everyone, let's move on. You'll get nowhere pointing out that the Hogwarts in this game has a whole lot more secrets than his beloved Prisoner of Azkaban.

So the game is called Hogwarts Legacy, but the devs didn't care about making Hogwarts fun to explore and be in? I would much prefer for them to cut the world map in half in exchange for Hogwarts to be actually fun to explore and have more student interactions.

Look up the "Ubisoft Legacy" thread here, you're not the only one. Unfortunately, we're in the minority here, as everyone else is perfectly fine with the fact the game called "Hogwarts Legacy" got little to do with Hogwarts and your legacy will be 1:1 the same as every other player.

That's fine since it's not a multiplayer game. Legacy refers to the special powers you get which don't happen all that often. There is plenty to explore inside the castle as well. Secret rooms, UNDER the castle etc etc etc etc.

You're in the minority because everyone else actually enjoys the content given and if it were just called hogwarts school and only the school then you might have a point, but it's not. It encompasses a huge area outside the school which will take you hours to explore. If you've only played a few hours then its most likely that you just have not unlocked quest to explore the hidden areas you seek as some are so hidden that you wont realize they're there until you get the quest to look for them.

Thanks - I needed some more bogeys to mix a few potions. Also going to be redecorating my room of requirement, while sneaking around at night to find some more secrets and finishing up a few other exploration tasks.

You do you with your '1 hour of gameplay'. *wink, wink* See you in game!
willrei Feb 23, 2023 @ 11:24am
Yeah, I get what you're saying.
Yes, there are a lot of rooms to explore in the castle, but almost every room is there for you to look at, collect random gear, cosmetics/incantations and "solve" some "puzzles". "Solve" and "puzzles" because there's no challenge to 99% of them: you learn what to do and then repeat it 30 times (or almost a hundred, considering the merlin trials).

Also, why do we have to wait to brew potions? It's just annoying.

Because you're just starting out as a 5th year and have to learn how to do those things first?

tons of secrets, collectibles and things to do. You clearly didnt even try. This post is far more boring as sad bait than the game is.

No, I meant waiting for them to brew after learning. We already have to wait for the plants to grow, why wait +15 seconds to brew a healing potion?
