but in the game it has no real difference. learn them if you arent roleplaying a good guy and don't care. ignore them if you want to play like your character is too good and noble and would never use them.
theyre just powerful, and have no affect on the story at all.
if you want spoilers go look it up.
Personally, I learned them for the Achievement (and because I felt like it fit my Ravenclaw MC to collect that knowledge), but I never used them.
It doesn't actually matter how Sebastian's questline ends - whether you send him to Azkaban or not. You've got opportunities to learn the three curses from him along the way, and so long as you take them, then you can do whatever at the end of the questline with no worries. If you don't take him up on learning the spells along the way, then you'll need to make sure not to turn him in at the end of his questline because you won't be able to learn the spells from him if he's shipped off to Azkaban. Otherwise, if you keep him around, you'll be able to learn the three curses at your leisure (if you don't know them already) by visiting Seb in the Undercroft. At least, I believe that's what the previous poster was referring to; I learned the curses along the way, so I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think that's the way it all plays out if you don't.
It's an insidious slippery slope. Take the green spells if you want the damage add a few talent points to add curse to your other spells and all along be sweet and innocent til some dark wizard gets up in your grill then show him you are the anti hero. tThe dark wizard who hunts other dark wizards for the greater good.
Actually I got that achievement before I got the killing curse. So I don't think you need them for it.
Oh! I might be mistaken then. I didn't pay attention to when the achievement popped for me, and I wasn't taking any chances on missing out on it by not learning the curses the first chance I got (not realizing at the time that I could potentially learn them later, too). Would make sense, though, as I often left a lot of my Assignment spells until later on in the season to learn, so I probably did pick up the curses before I got all of those.
They're all part of Sebastian's side questline, and you can learn the first one during the quest where you, him, and Ominis go into the scriptorium. (I forget what that quest is called or what season it took place during, though, sorry!)
thanks for the info :)
