One thing story wise that bugs me...
Why is Sebastian using Impiero on a goblin about to merk his underage sister a huge deal but me blowing them up with bombarda and ♥♥♥♥ is perfectly acceptable way of killing?.....i mean ♥♥♥♥ even Ron and Harry use it a few times in Deathly Hallows lol...

In that scenario I think it's more of a social stigma, thing. Just as killing people in wartime is fine but using horrific chemical weapons on them is not - there are types of magic that are wrong for how they twist the user and survivor beyond the moment.

Dark magic has a long history of twisting the people who use it and turning them evil, so its use is discouraged even in drastic situations.

The same thing can be said about Avada Kedavra, killing goblins painlessly and quickly is bad, but burning them alive with Incendio while holding in air with Leviosso, listening to their screams of pain, horror and dispair is okay.
Real answer is because Harry Potter worldbuilding is FUBAR.

If I understand correctly, one of the main reasons is that unforgivable curses are unforgivable because they have no utility otherwise. You can use Incendio to burn people but also to start a cooking fire. You can use diffindo to cut people to death but also to cut materials or plants etc. Avada Kedavra only utility is to kill someone and that is why mages thinks it's bad. . It's like people trying to ban firearms, but not knives

But killing someone is usefull, when a troll raises his club - you will wish you knew avada kedavra.

Okay killing curse makes sense.....but Impiro. Sure you CAN do horrible things to with it.....but it would also be the best option for interrogation...Yes i know there is a potion that does just that but.....well you either use a spell or a potion and get the same effect. Though i guess the potion ONLY makes them tell the truth they can still act with free will?. Idk Imperio is just a weird one...

Interrogation with Imperia would be about as evil as interrogation with Crucio.
But Imperio could be verry usefull in protecting endangered wildlife, imagine instead of drugging animals to sleep or literally manhandling them - you can cas a simple spell, make them move to a new, safe location and sod off with no harm to either parties.

If I remember correctly you go to Azkaban for Avada Kedavra only if you use it on humans. Besides in order it to work you must have a heavy desire to kill or to cause pain and suffering . With Imperio it may actually be the worst of the three. It strips you of your will, and you can be ordered to do horrible things. Like kill your own child, rape someone or be used to rape someone It much more cruel instrument than crucio even.

Would be nice if Rowling ever expanded on the laws about unforgivables.

The morality of spells is bonk. I mean when an animal is in serious pain and there is no means of curing the animal, most people feel that putting the animal out of it's misery is a mercy.

But it's okay to light person on fire. Or freeze a person just to watching them explode in pieces, nope no problem with that kind of spell. But people freak out that you use a spell that causes instant death on an enemy that is seeking to cause your death. The logic is bonkers.

I really wished the developers implemented a non lethal takedowns. Because you are 15 years old or so and you kill without any care in the world.

They probably didn't want to put in a morality system because it would be too complicated to manage. Not sure maybe they didn't have the budget for it???

There kinda is a non lethel takedown, if you sneak, use imperio or glacio you can use Petrificus Totalus on enemies. But it`s easier to just blow ♥♥♥♥ up and light them on fire.

Kinda sorta morality system ish.

Not really sure if that is non lethal though. They both turn to stone and turn to ash. I went through a whole camp doing that and Sebastian just remarked like I killed them or something.

Dark spells require malicious intent to cast, which make it difficult to cast; much less cast without consequences of losing control of your curse.

It's no wonder it is forbidden to use. Do you really want to teach people how to corrupt their thoughts, so it's easier to cast a curse? The societal consequences of this would be staggering.

It's ok to kill someone with the other spells if you don't really want to and it makes you sad. The unforgiveable spells only work if you really want to kill. In the context of Hogwartland that's bad for you. It's ok to kill as long as you really don't mean it. Kind of like getting a murder charge reduced to manslaughter because of intent. Hey, I didn't write this stuff. It all seems like the kind of rationalization that's been used forever to justify people behaving badly. Like burning witches at the stake to save their souls. The priests felt bad as they lit them up.

In a world filled with trolls, dragons, people who can mutter a word and end you and God only knows what else - I want to tech people to defend themselves. Desire to kill or hurt is not unnatural, especially in a self-defense situation.

We must have done that a couple hours apart! I posted this exact question this morning. LOL. It's strange writing.
