Trying to mod the game.

Im looking for a safe way to mod this lovely game. Does anyone have any recommendations on a safe website I can use??

Most of the mods on Nexus will tell you what you need and how to go about installing them

Some games require nothing more than a mods folder dropping in the base folder but many others, including this one, need additional components to work

See, I did follow the steps that that in one of the one I wanted, and the other one just really didn't explain things well. I mean they were both visual mods so... Oh well. Not gonna mess with it right this second.

You gotta go to Your Hogwarts Legacy game directory, probably C > steam library > steam apps > common > hogwarts legacy > phoenix > content > paks and make an empty folder named ''~mods'' inside of it. In order to instal mods You just put every mod file in there and it is done. mod files will have ''.pak'' ''.ucas'' ''.utoc'' at the end of the file name. Don't drop the whole mod folder inside, just unpack it and drop every loose file in there.

Nexusmods is by far the safest but some of the mods will require you to download additional apps such as game reshades.

Every mod has an instruction in the description and most of them will tell you put the stuff in your paks folder or ~mods, to get the ~mods folder you can simply create it in the paks folder, it's only a separate place to store your additional content.

To be honest I haven't attempted any mods with this game yet, I'm one of the few lucky people having almost no issues and I don't want to rock the boat and start messing with it

Depends on the Mod i guess, i just dropped a .pak file inside the Paks Folder ^^

Ah, didn't realise. Looked at a couple of mods there yesterday but both of them required additional software to manage and use them

Thanks! If you have to have the "~" there, that is where I messed up. I never saw any mods folder have that, so I didn't put it. Thought it was a typo, and looks like I might have the mods folder in the wrong place.

Np, read the mod descriptions though, what I just shared will work for most mods but in the future there might be some aditional steps required.
