Voices very quiet and distant
Using RealTek, updated Nvidia drivers and everything, and happens both on speakers and headphones. Occasionally voices are incredibly echoey and quiet. Happens especially during cutscenes.

Doe you have Stereo speakers/headphones?

Is your windows speaker config on stereo?
I don't know if the in-game settings overwrite the windows speaker config. But you could set it to stereo in Windows and see if that helps

Exactly what happens to me. I've tried switching the audio configurations around to no avail, and have restarted my PC and app a couple of times. Just makes the cutscenes grating to sit through without any voices.

bump, would like to know if there is a fix for this too

Have you tried in-game sound settings and put it to Headphones?
IIRC I had to take that option, because I had the same issue at start.

Yup. Switched it around from Home Theater, TV, Headphones on both Speakers and Headphones to no avail.

If someone finds a fix for this it would be great! in my "crosshair" is on the person talking its clear as day however if I try walk with the person and I'm ahead, or if i just pan the camera away from them i cant hear anything! Its incredibly annoying.

Voices are fine for me, but the little *ding* you hear when there's a page nearby is now nearly inaudible for me. Even when standing next to it.

So I don't really know what your config is? But I'm guessing Stereo Speakers and Headphones? Or do you have a receiver with surround setup? Do you get sound from NVIDIA HDMI? Or a onboard soundcard?

With me, I immediately knew something was wrong with ATMOS on PC through HDMI. My receiver said ATMOS, but it was just weird Stereo. No positional sound. Switching to 7.1 wasn't Atmos of course 😕, but pretty decenr regular surround.

First thing to try is probably going into the soundcard properties (little speaker icon in control panel)

and check if all your enhancements are off and see if the bitrate is correct.

Just start on 16 bit 44800hz.
I would also disable the HDMI soundcard if you don't use it (or the onboard soundcard if you do use hdmi).

It would be interesting to see if you can test both individually NVIDIA HDMI or Onboard to see if you have the same problem with both of them. If 1 gives good sound, you'd know better where to troubleshoot.

Hope it works out for you!

This ended up fixing it! I went to the settings menu in Windows 11, System -> Sound, under Advanced 'More sound settings', found my audio device and right-clicked, 'Configure Speakers' and changed it from 5.1 Surround to Stereo.
