friendship in general in this game is kinda forced imo.
especially with Natty. I mean, the protagonist barely knows her and then boom, the next day she shares the biggest secrets she has to someone who she barely knows because she "trust" her? kinda stupid tbh.

Yeah. Relationships are meh in the game. NPCs are meh. No morality system is meh. This game has a lot of amazing stuff but programming these things is where it fails flat.

A lot of loners hooking up.

They can all relate to each other.

I mean, most of them are 5th grade. the protagonist might be a loner since he or she joined Hogwart in 5th grade but anyone else seems to have no problem making a friend. and even if they get along incredibly well because they were a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerd, why would you tell them the very secret that the professor who thought her/him face to face asked not to share? it make sense if the protagonist is just retarded but at least they should've gave us the chance to choose if we wanna share it or not.

they at least gave us option to choose with Sebastian. it's why I felt that the relationship with natty was forced.

The exact same happens with Sebastian they are just the initial stages into showing how friendship works in the game plus they both actually get affected by the players actions and who is after the player so it makes sense the player would feel obligated to tell them but the choice is still the players you don't have to be as forthcoming if you don't want to.

Not to mention kids who come to hogwarts are generally looking to make friends straight away its a cool wizarding school its not unrealistic whatsoever really.

This is kind of a none issue.

I disagree. Sebastian storyline was much longer than the Natty one, and even when we were introduced to him we got the decision to tell him the truth or not. multiple time that is. but Natty storyline is outright absurd. you literally see her like three times before the protagonist decide that she is trust worthy. and by the way the only quest you did for her before the storming castle quest, it was just lengthy dialogue how she hates the bad guy and all that.

I initially didn't enjoy Sebastian as well, but as the quest goes on you just get to accept him as some kind of friend as he helps you multiple time. do you remember anything Natty did before the protagonist decided to cut their stomach open to show her what their heart look like? none.

it's simple psychology. when you are forced to like something, you get the opposite feelings about it.

You're not forced to like anything in this game and natty goes through the same things as seb with the player yes seb has a longer story line but in the beginning natty and the main character go through the very same scenarios and if you pick natty to go to hogsmeade its sebastion saying the lines that natty would be....its easy to say a character is lesser than the other when experiencing them through only 1 lens you like seb that's fine but there's nothing wrong with natty.

either way its just subjective opinions so you can feel what you want same for others to.

I feel I gaslighted Sebastian the entire time then sent him to wizard jail... Muhaha. :)

It is school. Relationship tend to be forced in such places. And they are the characters class mates that are requested by staff at times to assist you. You also defeated a troll together and she didn't run.

I suppose it is what you make of it.

I would like a bit more time with them and classes before jumping into the quests. But it is okay.

actually, I didn't choose her when I get to decide who I'd go to Hogsmeade so that explains some amount of lack of her appearance in my playthrough.

but still, the relationship between the protagonists and their friends progress ridiculously fast it is hard to catch up. one moment you met them and the next moment, they're the best friends that you would share the most important secret that you wouldn't tell nobody? come on. I know they are the kids and it's a school but can you possibly look at that and say "well, that's normal." ?

What really grinds my gears is that even if the "option" sounds mean spirited or sarcastic, the actual dialogue is a never ending stream of "safe space speech".

You just NEVER question anybody, don't confront them, are unable to criticize, demean or even genuinely praise NPC choices. All of the dialogue is long winded and non conflictive.

Like seriously, do I REALLY need to know the whole background story of an NPC the first time around?

I don't know, I don't even remember the hogsmeade part, all I remember is the friendship with Sebastian was much more believable than Natty's one. and that's not considering the Hogsmeade part.

also I don't like her somewhat "you shouldn't hate her because hating her would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up." kind of writing. the way they wrote her was so wrong that she kinda feels like self-righteous egoist.

So just like real life.

You've never had the pleasure of being bombarded by an over-sharer? Every job you'll ever have has them. New guy comes in and you'll be responsible for them. The 2nd day they'll trauma dump their whole miserable childhood and then be gone in a month.

Natty's story is one of the worst being told and poorly written story in this game. The writers gave a lot of plot device to Sebastian. Also Natty's motivation is meh! I could understand if she is Hufflepuff and she knows Highwind. Better officer Singer is her relative she is trying to keep her safe like being overprotective sister or daughter but nope her whole motivation is being nosy. There is a NEWS in the game Auror getting killed but the writers in the game didn't use that plot device.

Writers in this game just got lazy regarding Natty. The Natty can be interesting but nope.
