It doesn't even take as long as 30 seconds, it takes possibly 10 seconds. :D It's just the irritation of having to do it SO MANY TIMES when the mini-game is pretty much pointless and adds nothing of value to the game. I'd rather do it initially with lockpicks and then have the 3 spells affect locks 1 to 3 automatically.
but it could have used an extra step and some random element so it at had some variety.
I liked the ring game mechanic in mass effect 1. short and just the right amount of involvement needed.

ikr... tbh i quite enjoy the lockpicking in this game, it is simple unlike the one in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, it still give me nightmare
30 seconds? It takes way less than that dude. However the task is still tedious.
Agreed. There is no challenge in the minigame since each lock is done in exact same fashion with exact same formula. The different levels of Alohomora dont change anything except which locks you can interact with. The higher tier ones are not in any way more challenging.
If someone feels this is somehow complicated, heres a guide:
-Rotate outermost ring until the gears on bottom right twitch. Then rotate back until you find the spot where the gears constantly turn.
- Rotate inner ring until the gears in the middle twitch. Rotate inner ring back until gears constantly turn.
Thats it. Every single lock in the game opens in exact same way. Its not hard. It just.. takes time.
I guess they didn't want to introduce locks that you could open by pressing a button, but this is barely any better.
EDIT: For the record, I find the best lockpicking minigame I know of is in Elder scrolls online.
since i didnt have tier 3 unlucked i was happy to get at least the tier 2 lock out of the way and behind the oor was a stair case leading up to a Tier 3 locked door..... what a brilliant game designed
