How to change they/them
Is there a setting to change this, everyone keeps calling my girl character they/them? it feels strange to me
I have personally never seen any game do this, games as old as dragon age origins, Skyrim more than a decade old don't do this
If there isn't a setting i hope they add it in the future,
If they added this because of the leftist people actually i would be even willing to pay extra money for this.., that may convince them to add it as a DLC at least
I am scared though this may become the norm.., it probably will

they didnt add it because of leftist.

they did it because its cheaper to have a voice actor say one line "they/them" instead of two "he/she".

also the game will be of smaller size because the audio files will be smaller.

As people have said in so many other threads, the main reason for this is not having multiple voice lines. It's not even a problem in English as "they/them" works perfectly fine grammatically speaking for referring to an individual.

It might be an issue for other languages however as some lack the same flexibility of English or there's grammar stuff getting in the way of it working. But as it stands I don't see a problem with it personally.

Thank you for reply, how much audio files effect the game? also i guess it is only english.., From what i have seen older games do is, they would use he/she as often and refer to you as commander or similar, but the few remaining lines they would record they would use he/she

thanks, It feels strange to me, maybe because i am not a westerner.., i guess i just wanted to suggest the devs, that they can add this additional feature as DLC

my character's a guy but i gave him a unisex name "Sage", could be either a boy or a girl's name. just so the 'they/them' makes a little more sense for my character

I know but i would really liked for my character to be a girl and be referred as such

That's a no. It doesn't cost any more to record proper lines. And besides, games have been using "hero" and "champion" and "student" and other completely neutral terms to refer to the player character all along. This was done solely as an attempt to pander to the very hate group that sought to cancel this game.

If that were true, they would have gone with "student" or some other actually neutral term. They instead chose to pander to the hate group that wants to cancel the game. Games have been using neutral terms like "hero" and "champion" and "student" and such since the beginning. There's no justifiable reason to use "they/them" over those terms.

Anyone who's bothered by this is being bothered by this on purpose. Frankly I didn't even notice. It is completely normal behavior to refer to someone as they/them whenever you want, especially if you don't know their gender.

"Someone came by the store today." "Oh yeah? Did they buy anything?" They. Simple and easy and normal and doesn't stand out in any way.

You know, other countries are not as woke as US.

What they should've done is give your protagonist a codename throughout the game that he/she can use.

For instance 'Fig's Protege' or 'Student' and such.

I don't get why they have to refer to 'they' all the time, but I never really pay much attention to the audio dialogue, but I read the subtitle.

But yeah, it makes sense to refer to he/she or "that student" etc if the person speaking knows who it is that they are referring to. But if they don't know who that intruder is, they can use 'they' or 'the intruder'.

LOL Funniest comment of the day! I'm not taking a side as to whether it's right or wrong, but it's most definitely done to appease the woke.

Smaller audio files! You actually said that! LMAO

This must be directed at the writers since they're the ones who had issue with using industry standard of calling the protag "hero/champion/student/etc".

I like to lie to myself about things, too.

Sure, when they aren't standing directly in front of you and you can clearly see what they are.

As opposed to standing in the store while they're talking about you, like what happens in the game. You're being intentionally obtuse.

because refering to someone as the student multiple times in one sentence is really weird sounding "Ah yes, the new fifth year, I trust the student has been using the student's field guide" instead of: "Ah yes, the new fifth year, I trust they have been using their field guide?". You see how not using pronouns at all would make sentences way overcomplicated? Especially possessive pronouns. You're already a binary character, a witch or wizard in a male or female dorm. They just saved money on voiceacting. I also genuinely didn't notice because them talking about me doesn't happen very often at all and it just doesn't feel that odd.
