Is the globe in the charms class accurate?
I just started and went to the charms class (double perfect score!). On my way out I noticed it had a globe and took a look at it and... Maybe it's just me, but I could have sworn that Mongolia as a nation didn't declare its independence from the Qing dynasty until 1911, the Mongolian People's Republic until 1924, and it's modern iteration until 1992. Among other things that seemed... weird (it's hard to tell but it looks like Israel is on the map despite not being formed until after WWII). I could also swear I'm seeing things like a dividing line between North and South Korea though it's at a level I wouldn't be unwilling to accept as me seeing things that aren't there. Am I wrong and I'm just not realizing how the country borders were in 1899 or did they use the wrong map?

Clearly the wizards used divination to see future borders and created a globe ahead of time.

And why are there so many globes? Pretty lazy

It's pretty common for developers to reuse textures or to create assets from an image that may be historically anachronistic.

Not all textures are created from scratch, in other words. So the chance there was a slip somewhere that resulted in a map that's 'too new' is pretty believable. They can always fix it in a future patch, if they choose.

That you alone can blame lazy developers.

I would never blame a developer. They likely worked their asses off under extreme crunch and the like. They deserve praise for even having the globe in the first place. I noticed that Africa is at least not a modern version which makes it extra weird.

I do blame developers for poor jobs, and that they did. I bet you defended cyber punk too.

I mean, there is a prominent character that says she and her family came from a nation that does not exist in 1890, so I don't think they really took the time to fact check anything in the game with real history.

I just interpreted it as her having come from the region of Uganda. Like, 'New England' doesn't actually exist, but if you told someone you're from there they know, at least in general, where they came from and, if America ever did break apart, there's a solid chance that due to having a relatively similar culture and region, they'd become their own pesudo-nation (or full-on one). So while the country may not exist the region, culture, and so-forward does. But that's just me.

I did. Or, more accurately, I put the blame on the people who decided that both putting it on consoles that clearly couldn't handle the specifications for the game all while remaining unmoving with their deadline to meet release-dates instead of delaying it to give them more time and not releasing it on the older consoles. Not on the people who probably had to sleep in the office and barely saw their families, if at all, due to time crunch. If the CEO of McDonalds makes a bad decision I don't go down to the local McD's and take it out on the cashier and fry cook.

Also, I think the game takes place in 1890, not 1899.

Can you take some pictures? I love to see it, haha. Would be totally crazy if they used the wrong map on the globe. Then I know why the game isnt historically accurate for its timeline. World building, history and details has to come together... if not then its lazy.
