Performance Issues
So far I've been enjoying the game, BUT, there is an issue I am having. I'm pretty sure other PC users are having the same issue, and that issue is the sudden drop in frame rate. I've been playing on my PC, which has the following specs:

Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super 8GB VRAM
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z 32GB

When I first booted the game, it automatically set everything to High as the game says that is the Recommended setting due to my PC's specs, and the game was running smoothly. But then, after the tutorial section and I finally make it to Hogwarts, the cutscene for the Sorting Hat starts stuttering like crazy, and the frame rate just drops so badly. And it persists whenever I'm exploring the school; runs smooth at first then the frames just drops almost all the time when stuck in a cutscene or exploring. Did I mention that the game also eats up about 50% to 60% of my RAM? Is that normal? I decided to do a test of the game on my laptop, which might be a bit more powerful considering it has an RTX 30 series graphics card. Boy, was I wrong. Here are the stats for my laptop:

Manufacturer: Dell G15 5511
CPU: Intel Core i7 11800H
Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 3050

It was my first time booting the game up on the laptop, and the game decides that Low is the Recommended graphics settings despite the fact that there is a much better graphics card on the laptop than my PC.

So, to make a long story short, is there a reason and/or a solution to the massive frame drops in the game, and why the game sets everything to Low on my laptop?

no matters your config, this game have a lot of performance issue and reaaly need an optimisation patch, this game can double or triple the ressources it takes for no reason in 2 seconds then back to normal this is not optimised at all, and for answering to karlac, no, using mod to fix it is not normal ! devs must fix their game this is not to the players to use mods or any other tips for having a little boost who don't fix the problem anyway ! it's already playable without your tip, the fact is it's not normal to have a game like this who use 10% proc' then 40% for no reason or using 4gb ram then 16gb without doing something

I have seen as high as 18GB on my 4090, and that is at 3440x1440.

so you're lucky, i have 32gb ram this game can use 5gb of ram then one second later without doing something it take 16gb, here it use 10% ram then suddenly 50% of 32gb for no reason, this is a shame to see games releasing like that in 2023 ! and don't forget 16gb of ram is the mnimum requirement, have more ram is not luxury for this game

I game at 3440x1440P. Game uses like 7.2GB of Vram of the 8 my 2080 super has, and bout 22GB of ram. I lowered the foliage setting from high to medium, and FPS improved but now tree's and plants artifact like crazy randomly. I even seen a owl flying close by and his wings were going crazy too, and it's kinda random. Going back to high it didn't happen, but it kills my FPS, and going back to medium boom artifact.

btw devs are even aware of pc perfo issues ? or they just gonna ignore it : (

Devs develop this ♥♥♥♥ on top of the line systems, then test it and say to themselves, " this is a solid build and it runs perfect. Therefore, if it runs amazing on my dual 4090ti with 128 mb of ram, then I guess it'll run great for the consumer base, most of which are young Potter heads. And, if it doesn't they're probably so obsessed with the Wizarding world, they'd have no problems dipping into their college fund to upgrade. It's not your system, many are getting plunges in frame rate at various times.

its a damn shame before selling they should just say what you need to play the game i have 3060ti and it runs bad so if i needed that 4090ti i would of never got it and if they did i missed that memo funny but not funny

A 1080 Ti from 2016 is enough to run this game reasonably well, albeit without ray tracing.

You can run this game on a machine with 16 GB of RAM, so long as you have an SSD for the game files and Windows pagefile. 32 GB will do better.
