3 hours into the game, and gear inventory is already full
I know devs are aware of this issue, but regardless, shouldn't there be a way to hoard some items? idk chest for gear or something. I just returned from first trip to hogsmeade, wandered around the castle doing some side quests and my inv was full in no time nor any real progress. I don't really want to sell anything at this point, kinda wanted to go for "one set for looks, other for stats" with my gear

You can transmog from the start. If you hover over the gear slot item you should see the ability to change the look. Every item you collect is added to the transmog section and saved so no need to save an item for looks. There is no reason to keep gear you aren't wearing that is highest stats. Also Merlin Trials will open up the game to increase inventory.

With cloaks you can also raise the hood of the cloak if you desire with that same interface.

Sell everything you aren’t using. Equip the best thing and change appearance to what you like.

just sell ALL, it make no sense to hold items you have a transmog system for the skin so selloutboy

Just sell everything you don't have equipped

Sell, sell, sell the gear. The thing many of us missed early is that you can change the appearance of your items via the menu. So no need to keep things for looks...

But yeah for me this has been "your inventory is full" the game. Even if you clear out your bag before going on a quest, you won't have room very soon.

You keep the appearance of any gear you collect even after you sell it. Also, right now there is a bug when trying to loot a chest if you don't have any capacity to carry more gear -- the item will disappear from the chest even when you were unable to add it to your gear inventory. So, you should actively be selling your gear ASAP (make sure to do this before any of the "long" quests especially); you can increase your gear capacity by doing Merlin challenges so at least get the first upgrade from it as well.

When you pick up an item the model gets saved on your appearances, so you can switch any item to look like what you want, so you can safely sell all worse gear.

When you hover over a gear slot (before going into the individual gear choices), press F to bring up the appearances menu and play dress-up.

Yeah this game isn't that in depth to where you need to keep more gear than what is simply 'better' than the previous piece of gear. Put on anything, make it look like anything, sell the rest.

No. Selling gear is one of your major sources of cash before you can capture beasts, and there is absolutely no point in keeping any of it for later, because it will never have better stats then it did when you got it. As for the look, you can make any piece of gear look however you want by mousing over it in your gear tab and clicking on F.

You will never have tons of inventory space in this game.

I'm up to 28 spaces at the 35-hour mark, but it doesn't go much higher than that.

This game has a million pieces of gear that you will find and never need.

It's a revolving door of gear replacement.

So, just keep selling it and keeping your best six pieces, no matter the colour, because you will need money, too.

Every piece of gear you get is saved as an appearance option - you always want to equip the best stuff you've got. You can change what it looks like any time in the gear screen, highlight the piece and there'll be an option to 'change appearance' ... sell everything else, there's no reason to hold old or inferior stat equipment.

Ohhh didn't know that you can change appeareance for every item you collect, cheers all!

Sell, sell, sell, anything that isn't purple or orange rarity, sell, because they will soon become extremely weak once you level up a bit, but with orange and purple, they take longer to become useless, which means less annoying scavenging/spending stupid money to get better gear.

Short holds to upgrade/add traits to gear for the unlocks is a decent reason. One that's probably best powered through fairly quickly.
