Does difficulty affect things other than combat?
I am disabled. I am also prideful. I play on hard exclusively because I play roguelikes, dammit, and no AAA game is gonna beat me.

What I need to know is does difficulty affect other things like timed events (racing for example) or those damn flying keys?

Pretty sure just combat. So enemies do more damage to you, and they have more hp. Not sure if this is true or not, but they might also be more aggressive/spammy with attacks on hard mode too.

I'm fine with the combat part... well, not really but I'm getting better. But if the racing timer is shorter or if those damn keys fly faster around those cabinets, I can justify turning the difficulty down for dealing with them.

I know they get more aggressive on hard than normal

With the racing, if you are redoing a time trial and trying to get the top time, you need to get a broom upgrade 1st as you will always be at least a second behind.

As far as I've seen it's just combat, and combat is so mind numbingly easy anyway you might as well bump it up. If you want a real challenge it's going to have to be self imposed, like never use curses / take curse talents, only ever use potions / never use potions, etc. There's a lot of combat but it's trivial regardless of difficulty.

They are definitely more aggressive, I've played through on hard and part of the way on normal on a second character and enemies definitely attack more often on hard

The visual cues for dodging/blocking also seem to be shorter.

i been playing on hard since start without testing any other difficulty, the racing with broom so far (did 2) was easy, on 2nd i even missed some of those yellow bubbles for speed boost & still beat the time easily for the quest & for the flying keys i'ma assume you mean the keys for the cabinet challenge to get your house chest tokens it's also easy, once you find the key you simply follow it to the cabient & slap space when it flies over the middle

As for combat i find it grandioso easy even on hard... so it's safe to say you're good to go with "Hard" difficulty as i'm sure you'll find it what other games consider "easy-normal" difficulty lol

It removes the time limit on learning spells

The minigames where you learn a new spell were easier on easy mode compared to normal mode.

Difficulty mode only affects the damage multipliers between the player and enemy.
Hard just means enemies has higher stats, it doesn't always mean they have more hp, the enemy just get higher 'defense' and 'offense' stats.

False. It also makes enemies more aggressive and reduces the timing for visual cues for dodging/blocking
