Quest Bug: A Bird in Hand (Workaround included)
Come on guys, two quests now that can't be completed due to sequence breaks in a open world game.

We all know about the "Get the Biscuit" quest bug if you cleared the camp and the lock no longer being there, but I came across one even more annoying since it's a relationship side quest called "A Bird in Hand".

If you've been exploring absolutely everywhere during your playthrough odds are you'll come across these ruins well before you're supposed to, For some reason you can acrtivate the moonstone pedestal despite not knowing what it does and solve the puzzle to the entrance. You don't even have the moonstone so this shouldn't be possible at all, but you can.

Once you're in subtitles will pop up and your character will seemingly start to talk to themselves, proceeding forward will create a literal sequence break of everything in regards to do with this quest.

I've been trying to do EVERYTHING in this game even outside the challenges being 100%, but it's twice now I've been blocked from doing so and this one is far more frustrating than the biscuit one considering it's likely a chain of quests I'm never going to see the end to until it's patched and there's no telling when that'll be or if it'll ever fix current saves.

The Biscuit one was a fair oversight, but this one should never have happened. A key item was required to enter.

Edit: I've marked a possible solution from The Slacking Scotsman as the answer to this thread. If anyone else could confirm if this works or not just to ensure it's not circumstantial to The Slacking Scotsman and then leave a reply that'd be appreciated. Would do it myself, but I've since uninstalled Hogwarts Legacy.

Edit 2: Be sure to read through both The Slacking Scotsman and Professor's comments from the marked comment and below. Both users bring some workarounds for problems you may face in regards to this bug or other problems until a solution is patched by the devs.

Same problem here, you should make that door inaccessible like it is for the crypt in Feldcroft for Sebastian's questline and a few others, I didnt even realise that I shouldn't be there until two centaurs came rushing in in a cutscene. Please fix

Yeah man it kinda sucks. it's very likely anyone going off the main path fairly early will encounter this.

I gave it some thought after a couple of days and am under the assumption it's something to do with the Moonstones obtained from Demiguise statues conflicting in some way with the Moonstone from Poppy's quest chain.

I haven't looked into the files for this because quite frankly I'm not really all too good at digging around files like that, but it just seems very likely since both items have identical names and I think even share the same item picture.

i was able to complete the quest but wasnt rewarded the quest complete and its annoying because this is the last quest from poppy, rip.
I had this bug to fix it i did the door puzzle (although the doors were open) then went up to the tree and saved. Then went to settings, load game and load what i just saved and it should work at that point you dont have to the door puzzle again.

That'd be a surefire way to fix it, but many of us don't have an autosave to revert to. I'm under the assumption most would've gone in there, had no idea what just happened at the centaur scene and then left. For me it was about 50 hours later until I realised this quest had bugged up so there was no going back.

i didnt have an auto save, i was about 15 hours later in my run when i fully encountered the bug and thought i would be stuck at 98% aswell i tried everything including triggering the 2 bookcase dialogue but what worked was the saving at the final tree and then loading that save that was a few seconds old, then when i loaded back in i was at the start but when i ran to the middle room the centaur was there and the rest played out.

Oh I see what you mean. I uninstalled Hogwarts Legacy a couple of days ago so I'm not entirely willing to test to see if this works myself. I'll mark your reply as the answer to this thread in case anyone else is having this issue and wants to see if your solution will work.

Seems like it doesn't work, unfortunately...
Tried it three times and still no changes.
Hopefully they will fix it soon

That sucks. I will still leave The Slacking Scotsman reply as the "answer" still until we have a few more accounts of the bug and it's potential workaround actually working or not. If it helps a couple of people even if not us, that's at the very least something.

Appreciate you testing that out Professor!

To all those, who wonder, if it's possible to get 100% game without this quest -- it is.
I personally have 100% completion of the game and maximum possible 40th lvl.
I have also encountered a few more bugs along my way in this game.
The first serious one was a bug with Bisciut cage in bandit camp ( "Take the Biscuit" side quest), there were no lock to use Alohomora at. I had to use save editor and restore the lock, helpfull guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn9XePHjbXY
Another bug was with "Sacking Selwyn" side quest, when I defeated Selwyn, forgot about it and there were no entry in the list of quest. So you have go back the south of Cragcroft, find that woman, who gave you that quest and talk to her. So that quest can be finished, guide for this quest: https://www.sportskeeda.com/esports/hogwarts-legacy-walkthrough-how-complete-sacking-selwyn-side-quest

I hope it will help someone ♥
