The setting is Harry Potter, take it or leave it (used to love it as a teenager now don't care much), but the game beneath and the way the story is written are definetly a quality RPG to be enjoyed and definetly not a simple game aimed at kids.
You do kill like, a lot, of bad guys. Which makes for a funny transition as you turn a group of poachers inside-out with ancient magic and then wander back for your class the next morning.
Uhh..idk do you allow yourself to play mario games?
I am young at heart though, and somewhat easily entertained. But this is good entertainment.
If you think the Potterverse is childish, then I understand. Some people think Star Trek is childish. Hell, there are people out there that believe ALL fiction is immature.
Then there's people like me, who still watches Adult Swim and jams to metalcore. Guess I'm not mature for my age, lol.
Around that age, I still enjoyed pretty much any game, or almost. The gameplay seems to be pretty brutal at times, so it is safe to assume that any type of age should be able to enjoy the game (or almost). It is not like there are rules about who can play what until a certain age anyway. I used to play Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas before I was an adult, as my parents did not really mind what I was playing. It simply depends on your common sense, your maturity, and how easily entertained you can get with a game. And I guess if you are picky or not.
Take Fable, for instance. When I first played this game, I thought it was awesome. But when I started playing it again, I felt like the game was a bit too childish at times. A lot of NPCs and tutorials made me feel like I was supposed to be 10 years old or something. But the game is praised by a lot of people, including adults. So the overall will depends on your point of view on certain games. Like Overwatch is a cartoonish-looking game and maybe for you, this game looks like a game for 10 to 14 years old kids, while the majority of players are probably between 18 and 40.
See where I am going with that?
It's ultimately for people who've read the series growing up, but are adults now.
Like the movies it's not hardcore because there's the expectation that there will be some kids watching, but it's not a kid game.
