Is this game "woke"?

Hello. My boyfriend asked me to buy him a new game, but I remember distinctly him saying that he hates "woke" games and would never play one (whatever that means) should I be concerned about wasting my money and him not liking this, or will he enjoy it?

Yes. Its also incredibly average. Coming from a fan of the movies and rpgs, if he is like me he will be met with mediocrity.

Its a one time playthrough at best (being very generous here), made by the team that brought you the now defunct Disney Infinity series (and thats it besides Cars 2 game). Ask him what he expects from this.

There are elements of wokeness in it, but it's not overly aggressive with it like some other games. Where this game does venture into Wokeland, it's painfully cringe. Those times are, thankfully, rare.

This is a hot take. If he enjoys HP, he will 100% love this game. Its not woke by any standards. (I understand what he means by that)

'woke' for right-wingers means anything that shows some politics they disagree with. This game has a trans woman (edit: and a good number of minorities) which is a dealbreaker for a lot of the anti-woke crowd.
IMO it's no more 'woke' than the HP books and films.

Mainly the RT performance is really bad, that's my biggest issue with the game. Not sure if that sort of thing is more important than wokeness to your bf

It is woke but that doesn't seem to hurt the game itself. As far as "modern" games goes it's pretty good. My only criticism is it feels more like watching a movie than playing a game there are so many cutscenes. Bottom line for me is I'm enjoying it well enough to continue.
