OBS crashing while streaming only this game
So yeah I find it interesting that I'll be streaming and my game may be fine but I'll notice that my stream has frozen and trying to restart it won't work until I open up Task Manager to stop it. This kind of crash only has been happening with this game. Anyone else experiencing similar issues or have found fixes?

I had the same issue. I lowered my graphics settings to medium and also bitrate (reduce it and try-trial and error). Also instead of game capture do display capture in OBS

OBS start to lag on Hogwarts, yeah and it's reported on throughout the Internet. There's NO matter which settings you put on of off or higher or lower, OBS keeps lagging for it's time. FPS in OBS drops, Average render time goes to heavens, frames missed deu rendering lag, skipped frames. And take into account that all this is on NDI setup and on game PC's OBS which basically doesn't even encode anything but works as a "relay" to actual streaming PC. Also I have output on x264 but I also tried Nvenc. Same result. I also tried 30 fps, same result.

I read somewere, that Denuvo 17 could be the reason, but it's weird that the game itself doesn't get hit on fps a lot same time the OBS if basically dying. All the temps are fine in the system also. And yeah, OBS works just fine with other games so basically: DEVS, FIX the GAME and remove the f'n Denuvo. ALSO UPDATE the DSLL version of the game (yeah it can be done with DLSS Swapper, but it shoudn't be customers job)!

EDIT: After the latest small patch there's lot of improvement on the long framedrops on game itself and sometimes pressing "Windows"-key and then clicking back to game brings the FPS back up, sometimes not. OBS (29.0.2) not crashing so much but if I try to use context menus on capture sources when the game capture freezes instantly OR at any point when the capture isn't frozen, OBS will hang and needs to be closed with the right click. Times when there's basically were OBS hang and stream video freeze_everytime_ was the dueling challenge club fights . This right click hang&freeze behaviour is constant only with Hogwarts Legacy. Still noteworthingly that the OBS isn't even encoding anything, just being a "relay" through NDI to actual streaming PC and it's OBS which does the actual encoding.

I've been having the same issue, tried all kinds of diff things both in game and in obs. So far the longest i can get streaming at the lowest res and quality i feel comfortable w/ was about 40 minutes. It seems only dual pc set up streamers or streaming from console is viable right now and it's extremely frustrating because I really wanted to add this game to my rotation. I hope whatever is the problem is fixed soon :(

Nope, I use dual pc setup. Even when there's no actual encoding on Gaming PC's OBS, the OBS either lags as snail or crashes. Or both.

Same issue for me. However I do not have any loss in performance in OBS. The game and OBS run perfect until it just freezes. And it's not for lacke of resources. I am using an RTX 4090 and a Ryzen 9 7900X. Could this be an AMD thing? I'd be curious to know what kind of cpus and gpus you are all sporting?

Intel 9900K and 2080S OC. 32gb ram, Nvme and trad. SSD's. However I got the things working with the engine.ini modifying (found on internet) and with the eXputers recommended Nvidia and ingame settings.
