Will learning dark magic have any impact on the story?
I am playing a nice and good character, but I'd like to learn the forbidden spells to use them in combat against evil characters. I've read in many places that using the dark arts have no impact at all on the story. But will it have an impact on the side story with Sebastian?

Yes, apparently it does. There is a "Bad" "good" and "good good" ending. The "good good" requires you to not even learn ANY of the curse spells.

Incorrect. There is zero impact from learning, or using, any of the Unforgivable Curses

Your choice during the final battle is the only thing that determines the ending.

The "third ending" doesn't happen until after the final battle. Similar to how Shadows of Mordor has a "third ending" or "true ending" that you have to work toward after the initial ending.

so like cyberpunk you can just save right before the end and "choose" what ending you want?

Sadly, yes. I, and many others, was hoping for a story branch that allowed us to play as "evil". Unfortunately that doesn't exist. :(

Do you have any source for this? And will it affect the side story with Sebastian at least?

I am at the point now where I am about to learn the first curse.

yeah.. you're the "chosen one" there to save everyone and no matter what you do ingame.. you're good.
No real choices to make or ways to change the world/story.

Apart from the quest line with Sebastian, it has no effect whether you use the dark arts or not. Companions and enemies will at most say a sentence about it if you use it. But that's it.

None that I can post that don't include spoilers. I almost spoiled the endings for myself looking up the answer to the question you asked the first day of Early Release. If you're careful, you can google the question you asked. Just be warned, a lot of articles include what happens in the endings, but they at least try to put that info toward the bottom of the article.

So will it affect the Sebastian storyline negatively? I read that it is possible to learn dark magic from him in the Undercroft when the storyline is finished. So I could then wait with learning the dark spells.

No.

Well, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I didn't want to spoil myself and instead asked a friend who was told there are slight differences once you learn them for the ending. Guess not.

Negatively? Not that I'm aware. You're correct that you can learn them from him later. Tho I admit I don't know all the details on this. I like Sebastian (one of the few cool characters in the game), so I'm doing all of his quests. Haven't gotten to the Curses yet, but Confringo is already invaluable for the Merlin Trials (required for some, in fact, if you don't have Bombrda yet).

Thanks for your replies. I think I can go with the dark arts then. Will expand my gameplay :)
