Download speed slow as hell...

I had this game downloaded and played early, then tried to launch the game today and it was updating the game or something and was bouncing around 30 mins to 2 hours to download a small patch. Figured Id just uninstall and reinstall the game since my DL and PC are very capable at downloading. Now its saying its going to take 11 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HOURS to download the game. Everything else on steam takes like 3 seconds to download for me, WTF is the problem?

I mean literally everything else is downloading instantly, sometimes steam gets messed up when a download is started and stopping the download/install and redoing it can make it go to normal speed. Im only complaining about the clearly throttled download speed of this one specific game. I dont see how that is so hard for you smooth brains to understand. Hell Im not even the only person having this issue with HL specifically.

You are aware that your PC has not much to do with the download-speed? It's mostly your bandwith... when it is installing, your drive (SSD or HDD) is an important factor. But all this ain't a problem of the game, it's totally normal nowadays.

My download was at 200mbs when I checked...and my rig is brand new and high end with an SSD that has plenty of space. Also seen people talking about CPU playing a factor, something about preloads? Im assuming that is for those that didnt have early access? (I had early access so I am assuming the game downloaded normally and wasnt preloaded, not sure how that works tbh)

The patch was slow because it was unpacking and copying a whole bunch of files previously downloaded. It wasn't the downloading itself that was slow. At one point steam estimated the patch would take 11 days for me but the whole thing was done in about 15 minutes.

It has been the case before, I dont see why giving it a shot was such a bad idea especially considering steams issues. Ive fixed a lot of issues like that by simply resetting it. You all seething at the mouth over someone having an issue with one specific game out of their entire library (including games that have FAR more data to download) taking 11 hours to download when my DL speed is fine and I have an SSD.

Bruh, you seem to be the only one seething. We just found it funny that to get around slow update download, you decided to re-download the entire game and then got pissed at that as well.

Thank you for an actual non-brainrot response that helps. Thats what I seen being discussed elsewhere and a fix to that issue depending on your DL speed and PC strength was to delete the preload and simply install the game. That is what I tried since my specs were fine. Cant even be confused about something without all the speds coming out of the woodworks foaming at the mouth. Game is great so far, cant wait to get back to playing it.

Im not pissed bruh you all decided to act like rabid animals and attack me for being confused why this issue is happening with only a single game out of my entire library. Try being more productive next time instead of just screeching about it. I looked up the issue before I did anything and one of the fixes was to do what i did. This game ALONE is having a download issue. Literally everything else downloads instantly, why wouldnt I try to redo the download after seeing everything else functioning normally?

Exit Steam and come back or change download location or pause download and resume.

It should pick back up to speed.
