just to note: you get 1 point for every level after 5, to a maximum level of 40. this means you get 35 talent points to spend.
Spells - 10
Dark Arts - 10
Core - 16
Stealth - 4
Room of Requirement - 8
with this you could max out your spells, core, and almost all of your dark arts.
whilst stealth is fun, its used very rarely, and is still totally feasable without the extra skills.
the same with the room of requirement skills, its focus is consumables and buffs, seems like a waste to me.
if the devs dont add a way to respec soon then i can guarantee there will be a mod. i wouldn't worry.
I got to lvl 40 from farming the arena and I have a few comments:
(1) I learned to test talents using multiple saves and then staying on the save with the talent I prefer, (2) spending on the the Room of Requirement talents is important and you should pick at least your top 3 most used consumables, (3) the stealth points are great on a few missions, and stealth itself is pretty OP, but we can mostly live without the talent, (4) I'd say "only put points on spells you use" but I do use all the spells consistently (the game encourages you to), and (5) I made a good final build, but I still don't see a good reason why we can't respec.
This was my build:

Since I found this system so dumb, once I beat the game I went to NexusMods and added 12 more talent points (I also changed from Ravenclaw to Slytherin). Now my post game character has everything talented.

It doesn't matter anymore... I edited it anyway.
That said, you end up 12 points short and I don't remember a single point in the game where I used a consumable outside of duelling feats, so that was an easy 8/12 dealt with by skipping the entire Room of Requirement tree. Zero regrets there.
That doesn't make it any less forgivable. That is just trash game design and conflicts with modern day design philosophy where we have learned from our past mistakes that unchangeable talent trees are terrible for the player.
Even Diablo 2 caved in and let you change your talents 3 times.
