No talking to paintings? (between quests)

I'm having a surprisingly good time with this game. I'm hard pressed to find a flaw in the firs 8 hours (apart from the limited quick slots for controllers). However I think it's sorely lacking that - so far - you can' t have any conversations with people in paintings, or ghosts.

There's some depth to be added between quests, to be able to just stop and talk to one of the people in the paintings for around 10-20 lines of dialogue. Or even the ghosts. I stopped to listen to a guy strumming on his mandolin just to see if he would notice and allow me to talk to him. Sir Cadogan I think deserves the most, given the implied reputation he has for talking endlessly about his glory days to any of the students passing by. There's a lot of gold waiting to be dumped in here.

Most have duplicates so not sure how that would work. Still cool to hear them play instruments and chat among themselves.
