Mid game, do assignments, look at spells, use your brain, and find out whats best for what situation, and what spells can be combined for maximum damage.
Late game: Crucio talent, that allows any enemy under its effects, when hit, to fire a cursed sort of fireball randomly at another enemy, cursing them too, then simply spam that enemy cursed by crucio with basic attacks, and get everyone else cursed, then, use the avada kedavra talent that allows all cursed enemies to be linked, allowing your avada kedavra spell to kill all cursed enemies in one use, fire, and suddenly 10 difficult enemies drop dead.
Put that trait on all of your gear and you can AoE wail enemies to death theoreticaly or use it in the middle of your combos.
Also look to mods, item capacity for stuff is a bit low so allowing 99 mandragora to be stored might be good, but it might be hardcoded.
Venom flytrap plants are deployable turrets, if you max out the damage and deploy while invisible and stay hidden, you can take out enemies stealthly or lure em.
I kind of wish the LB and RB is used for combat lodouts though.
There are no enemies in this game that are immune to crowd control. Granted, some are immune to your crowd control, but can still crowd control themselves.
For example, the troll can charge and slam its club, effectively stunning itself until it recovers. While you attack the troll in this state all your damage and spells are amplified. You can also use outside environmental effects such as barrels/cauldrons/disarmed weapons/etc to CC them.
Some get crowd controlled when you break their shield, so using the correct color spell will do this. We just need to know which enemy is causing your issues because each enemy has weaknesses you can exploit.
Back to the troll example, when he brings his club down to the ground for example, you can flippendo it to have the troll hit himself in the face with it, stunning him. There are ways, reference your field guide notes.
Just Crucio 1 and spam normal attack on him - you'll break the shield on anyone you're hitting with that - otherwise become faster :)
Who told you that? Yes, it is at the end of the game, but its a sidequest, meaning that after you have completed the game, you can still get it, and also, the game doesn't end once you finish the main story, so dont freak out.
