Female Faces
The female character faces all look 40 years old and look like they smelled something bad. The males look good and youthful. I'm so confused?

Can we please have better face options for the female characters? We also need makeup options.

Yah I remember my character looked good at creation but in the first scenes in-game I was like whoa, that does not look like it did in the menu.

I think it is for two reason:

1. Lighting. How well lit it is makes a huge difference, I don't have a gpu that can do ray tracing so not sure how it looks with it, but it all around looks better under more ambient lighting.
2. Facial rig. I'm not sure if it is my settings or what but it does seem to be somewhat low detail, like the face is made of thick rubber, as long as my character is not grinning with excitement then it doesn't look too bad. Considering how detailed everything else in the game is I dunno why they would skimp on this aspect.

The pedos are always the ones that bring it up in a discussion that has nothing to do with it.

Go back to hiding in your closet.

People just want their characters to not look like deranged 40 year old men in the cutscenes(seriously when they smile it's actually creepy). If you're ugly irl and feel offended by it then not our problem.

The face you choose for females morphs back to a default ugly one for certain animations. It's more prominent on smaller faces, but that's why they all look off compared to male ones. You can see the difference best when a female character is having a regular conversation where they retain the face you chose vs. when you control them and during cutscenes. Very noticible in the character select screen as well when your character looks at a book flying past and returns to idle.

This has been going for a couple years at least. When dev team gets infisted with blue haired, fat, screeching activists this is the end result. You can't have good looking females because it would be "sexist" so all them must look like "average everyday female" so not to offend them.

Take for example Aloy from Horizon Forbidden West sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn. Her face now looks like Nick Avocado's. Also one of reason I didn't buy the first game when the sequel looks so unappealing.

We can't have nice things anymore in current year because everything is getting infested with loonies.

Yeah, it's you. You're the loony who thinks it's all a conspiracy.

It's not even a conspiracy. Some of the devs for these games literally admitted to making women uglier for that exact reason.

It's a fact, and a very obvious one.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting the female faces fixed… I’m not sure why there are people defending the monstrosity they call a face. The character model has a permanent creepy grin, and it’s sinister enough to give me a jump scare.

We’re not asking the developers to make these female characters turn out like Megan Fox, we JUST want our characters to look how they looked in character creation! They went from human to human-sized house elf since leaving the character creation, and it should be fixed.

Welcome to the Western entertainment industry. Men are portrayed as young and virile, handsome even, while women are purposely made to be as unappealing as possible. Get used to it.
It's an interesting change. It was only like 7 years ago there was a big outcry that female characters in games are mostly designed to fit the male fantasy.

And I have a feeling that instead of making them both look good they'll just take this opportunity to make both look average or even horrible in future games.

In some settings it makes sense. Like a zombie apocalypse. But a normal school game with a character creator should at least give you the option to make a good-looking character face.

I wouldn't know. I don't find fifteen year old boys attractive.

"blah blah blah u just hate women blah blah"
The shtick is beyond tiresome dude, get some new material.

And nor do I on the 15 year old boys, but socially-agreed-upon aesthetics is a thing, and it's extremely evident if you bothered to look that at the very least the males are allowed to look HEALTHY and close to their actual ages, while the girls look like they've been smoking meth since they've been able to walk.

As a female it pisses me off badly that I have to have a character that looks like a dude in a wig. It wouldn't have killed them to add one cute preset. It baffles me that they would do this on purpose.

I don't see anything wrong with the faces? They kinda look masculine which is fine with me, its nice to be able to play any body shape or voice and not worry about being "female" or "male"

btw, in-game there isn't any females or males in creation

In every American game with ugly female characters where the community rose up collectively and said these models are ugly, we would like pretty female characters....the devs NEVER listened. Not a single time.

Then all the ugly people in real life started defending the ugly faces saying they were beautiful.

One of the most recent examples is the Amazon mmo New World. But I can recall people being very unhappy about the human females in EQ2.

It's actually rare when you have attractive female characters or you feel like you are given some special treat, ESPECIALLY IF IT IS AMERICAN. But Asian games are different. They know how to make beautiful female characters.

"Rose up"...right.

Wrong. A small vocal fraction of the community rolled around in the gutter, whining that the female characters weren't up to their imaginary out of touch standards and didn't get their way so they come up with conspiracy theories that it was done on purpose to spite them and end up looking equally entitled and superficial. For most of gaming, women have had to deal with the bulk of games featuring an ugly male lead. But the moment gamerboys fail to get that hot girl, you all lose your minds, and still manage to find a way to blame women.

Why is it when a woman is too strong or skilled you call her a Mary Sue, but if she's unearthly beautiful, it's fine?

The sheer obliviousness of this behavior would be funny if it didn't make gamers look bad.

I don't think anyone is distinguishing mary sue as a warranted criticism of characters based on their attractiveness. Rey from SW, Bella Swan in Twilight, Jean Grey, or Captain Marvel are all portrayed and defined as exceptionally attractive women and are all mary sues.

Now that I think about it, I can't fathom a single contemporary female heroine that's a mary sue and is portrayed as average or below average. I think attractiveness may be a requirement for a character to qualify as a mary sue.

There you go.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to have a masculine face as a female if that's what you want but there are multiple options and a character creator for a reason. Adding the option to make an actual girl wouldn't hurt anyone.

They all have masculine features, nose, jaw etc and you have very limited control over any of it. For the cost of the game it is pretty basic.
