very very bad optimization
It's bad everytime I cast something or get hit by something or triggering some particle effect fps drops but just running around is smooth as butter :/

There is defiantly something up, the first areas work great, but the castle will chug if you look at it wrong.

what is your cpu gpu ram and game on hdd or ssd ?

game certainly has glaring optimization issues. it can be noted, as if you look at prologue areas and other "dungeons" that exist outside open world - they run perfectly ok. but open world map is just horrid. it feels as if engine is trying to load way too many assets at once and fails at that.

what also insteresting, is that game process consumes 25% of CPU and about 60% of GPU resources at all times for me

whats your build? bc it sounds like theres a bottleneck going on..

The game is built for the crappy console hardware. You will have to wait a week or more for the PC patches to help with performance.

There's a documented issue where certain AMD processors are not being utilized properly, and that's causing massive performance issues. I can get around 90-120fps consistently on campus, but as soon as I cast Lumos, my fps dips to 25-30, regardless of settings or raytracing being on or off.

I have a 5600x FWIW.

If you're using Raytracing, try turning it off. I was getting weird stutter on my 3080ti, 5900X, 32GB system until I did. Now, 90-120fps everywhere, 20 hours in, no Lumos troubles.

To be honest, I can barely tell the visual difference.

The might fix RT later, but for now I'm loving the game :D

For PC players playing Hogwarts Legacy with a NVIDIA video card, there is a GeForce Game Ready Driver update available to enhance your experience.

You can also try my guide, which fixed the game for me and my wife on RTX 2060, was stuttering all over the place before:
