I can't identify a robe I have. I have access to the identification table.

I have a robe and its description reads "Between quests is a good time to identify new gear"... and so on but when I go to identify it I'm told I don't have anything to identify even though this robe has ??? as its defence stat and when looking at the item it clearly states that I much identify it both in the gear menu and in the sell menu.

I don't think you read my post, if you did you would realise this doesn't help. 2 times now I have purchased an unidentified armour piece for 0 money and both of them can not be identified at all. they have the image of a robe unlike other unidentified items that have the question mark image, but they have a name that suggests its something other than a robe. Its almost as if this item I have is some kind of placeholder item that should exist in the game anymore

The fix is to just sell the stuff. You won't get anything for it but at least its not using up slots in your inventory anymore.

Sadly it's not possible to interact with the items. So i can't sell them

I think if it is above your current level it won't identify it. Check the level.

its not. its just different in some way. its basically a test item that seems like it shouldn't be in the game

If its the green unidentified item you first get from the wardrobe vendor, it can't be identified, like some others said it might be bugged out. Its always free to buy, but nothing identifies it. Unless I did something in the beginning of the game and it bugged out, not sure which.

the 0 gold is because it's a quest reward from the clothing store guy. they're talking about the quest reward you get after defeating the troll harassing Hogsmeade in the beginning of the game. so the 0 gold isn't the buggy part (especially when before this you had to gather supplies from the stores in Hogsmeade which were just sold to you at 0 gold as well), but the buggy part is that the room you use to identify items won't identify those robes.

the bug seems like the fact that you can just keep buying it. I had up to 3 at one point because I just kept buying it every time it restocked.
