Always starting on the wrong Monitor.
So i run dual monitors, my main is a nice 2k resolution and every time i start up the game, it starts on my 1080 monitor. I've changed the settings so many times. Why doesn't it save. I have to change it to windowed, then drag it to my good monitor, then change it back,

Any suggestions

I can't even change my settings since both my monitors aren't the same resolution. No matter what I do the primary monitor selection is always grayed out. Keeps starting on the 1080p monitor on my left instead of the main 1440p in front of me. Been fiddling for a bit....

So only way I can get mine to work on the main monitor is to disable the second display in windows, start the game, then re-enabling the second monitor. What an oof lol, also not completely related but it's getting tiring having games that have in game frame caps not having 100hz as an option.

Dealing with the same issue

I usually have to flip it to windowed, then drag the window over, then switch it back to full screen and it works. but it never saves.

I went ahead and reinstalled my gpu driver. Worked for me. Give that a try.

i think the last patch fixed it. i started it up yesterday and it went to the right monitor.

Disconnect your second monitor for now

every time i changed the settings it would default back to the second screen, had to make sure to select the main screen before hitting save settings and continuing the game.

You are a saint, my man. this fix works perfectly and I am amazed that someone figured this out. for those having issues finding this file path btw you can type %appdata% into your windows search and it will get you near the file path you need. this works perfectly though.

This worked perfectly. Thank you. I changed the ID from 1 to 2. My game was opening on 2nd monitor and I couldn't change it in game.

thank you so much! i only use two monitors, changed the value to:
MonitorIdx=1
instead of the default MonitorIdx=0

Works perfectly now and shows on my nice large monitor for gaming!
If others are working with 3 monitors, you may need MonitorIdx=2, add 1 per monitor you have i guess? depends on the order of displays

There is a setting called "Select Monitor" below window mode. Click that and select your main monitor. (This is option 2nd to the top under display options.)

Updated to the latest, and now I can't get it on the right monitor. The suggestions here do not work. Changing MonitorIdx=1 changes to the correct monitor for like 2 seconds.... and then immediately switches back to 0 and updates the setting files. Tried 2/3/4 and that didn't work either. It keeps going to my vertical monitor and can't see any of the screen to change settings.

my problem with this is that I have a 7" screen in my tower case (for aesthetics) and THAT is the monitor it pops up on since it is considered monitor #5. If it would pop up on any of the other screens, it would be ok, because I could just go to settings, windowed, and drag it to the right screen, but the mini screen can't handle Hogwarts, so all it shows is a black screen, not letting me correct the issue. I looked in the file settings that it said to change the monitorIdx=1 and it was already set to that, so it SHOULD be popping up on my main monitor, but isnt. :( I can't take my tower off the shelf and unplug the screen every time I want to play Hogwarts, its not feasible. No other game does this.
