Game not launching: Microsoft Visual C++ Error
Hi everyone, today I installed the game and had a hard time running it because the shaders lead to a black screen every now and then, so I just waited for half an hour to let them charge. Once I was able to finally see something in the game, I went straight to the settings to try lower some values so the game could load faster.

The only problem is that I accidentally changed the "Upscale Type" in the Display Options, i think from NVIDIA to Intel something. Needless to say, the game crashed and now won't open again cause a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error just pops out every time... it says:

"Assertion failed!
Program: [...] File: [...] Line: [...]
Expression: 0 && "Root Parameters not set"
[...] "

I don't have any idea how to solve it, I tried reinstalling all VC redist but still doens't work. And the most annoying part is that probably haven't I changed the Uscale Type, no problem would have emerged, but now I can't even reach the settings to change it back. I tried also unistalling and reinstalling the game but it remember my settings :(

I thank you for your time if anyone is willing to help me solve this

So you changed a Nvidia thing to an Intel thing... Did you check you Nvidia control panel to ensure you are using your Nvidia GPU to run games, and don't have switched to the integrated GPU?

As a potential second thing, try to locate the file with the settings in your game installation folder, and delete it, it will recreate a file with default values next time you launch the game.

Mhh about the first thing you're asking me I have no idea... I'm not so good with this kind of stuff :(

About the second one, it could be a great idea... If the settings folder is erased, maybe I can get back to original setting... I tried to find it but I see 2 folders in Hogwarts Legacy, named Engine and Phoenix and both have Binaries, Content, Plugins and Programs inside... I tried to navigate through them but don't seem to find setting anywhere.. should I erase some macro folder hoping to have included the settings (and hoping it will recreate later)?

Try to find the config file in this folder: C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved

PS: If you deleted something by mistake, you can do a Verify files integrity check in steam, it will recreate all needed files

Well, good new: it worked! Deleting the congif folder did the trick.

Bad new: even after lowering all settings and resolution, the game crashes when loading the game file. After all this fuss about getting to this point... So frustrating :( I thought it wasn't going to be my case since I bought a new pc and my specs are above the minimum requirements... Well thank you for your help anyway ^^

I did the opposite. I converted Intel to Nvidia and it wont let me into the game without giving me the error code. What do I do?

Well, try to locate the settings folder Taro helped me finding and erase it. I did and the game just recreated it the next time I launched it, along with default settings. You can see the path to reach the folder in your pc on his comment above ^^

I am having the same problem, but my game is installed on steam deck and I cannot find the location mentioned '/saved' on steam deck. Any help would be appreciated
