I just let the blackscreen run, and by the time i'd Googled it and got to this page, it had gone to the mainscreen. Damn Nvidia update. I hope it isn't going to be like this everytime it starts.

I had issues earlier today with the new drivers but after rebooting my system everything went smoothly

2 days ago your friends haven't got to the open world section
seems like lots of yall had no issues, but right after i updated drivers i blue screened every single time i launched. tried a bunch of other fixes to no avail. reverted back to 528.24 and it launched right away. he aint crazy, you just dont have the same issue

In PC we have not only GPU driver for overwrite ...
best idea is uninstall DDU old driver, restart PC
clean rewgistry Ccleaner (free) install new Driver, restart PC
Play
when u only overwrite old Drifer u not have full performance, because some old files still in ur PC...

The whole point of DDU is to properly uninstall GPU drivers to the point you don't need to clean your register. It has like a mini build in register cleaner specifically for GPU purposes. Looking at NVIDIA or AMD register entries and only touching those specific ones.
You would only be doing the same thing twice, and clearly you cant clean whats already cleaned by DDU.

On top of that, randomly running register cleaners and just ticking every box to "fix" things, can easily break something. Such programs cant possibly detect all ways how something is using / used by the register or not.

99% of the time anything that a register cleaner will find, doesn't even matter, having those register entries existing or not makes no damn difference at all. It only decreases the register size slightly.
woop tie doo, you now have 9999300 lines instead of 9999999.
Such a MASSIVE difference right ?

Say there somehow is something leading to a wrong file path, do you think it fixes it to the right file path? No, it just removes it.
You need to actually know what to look at with anything reported back, as that which is truly wrong, can only be fixed manually.

Just using DDU, is perfectly fine, don't need anything else.

Im going to say this after updating the game hung up twice then i started it again and alt tabbed and it started loading shaders. Alt tabbing worked for me. I also understand the Op because it's not Nvidia hasnt screwed up before I remember back when CyberPUnk came out and and if you updated your driver's the game would be stuck at 3 fps. I also understand singe Hogwart's gave me 0 issues until the update.

Please for the love of god if you're reading this, do NOT download Driver Booster or any other 3rd party "Driver updating" application. They're a scam at best lmao.

Agree.
There doesn't exist a single software yet, focusing on ''driver'' updates that doesn't contain malware, 3rd party gathering informations or plain out gives you trojans.

Now to the fan boys....
NO.... NO you can't defend softwares that states they update your drives besides the makers of said hardware.....
Many updating softwares even claim they can update software offline. How come tell, over 1. mio updates avaible inside a 68mb exe???? Yeah

So i agree dont fall for this obvious attempt at stealing personal information.
let alone you should never ever remove or let a software bypass security.
M0rpheus Feb 12, 2023 @ 8:19am
I meant that you can update older drivers which not shown in update sections on windows. and if you don't want boost it that way then you can go to
Graphics Settings -> Turn on Hardware-Accelerated GPU.
Scroll down -> Graphics Performance preference -> Browse -> Choose 2 of the programs Hogwarts Legacy.exe and Hogwarts Legacy.exe (From Phoenix Folder) -> Choose HIGH PERFORMANCE
Banished Feb 12, 2023 @ 8:30am
Everything started off perfectly for me as well, right after the update things went super jankey. I do get the extended black screen before the shaders load, but now I am experiencing a video memory issue, the game is a stuttering mess then just crashes. I did all the "recommended" things none seemed to work for me, trying a reinstall now.
DragonyCat Feb 12, 2023 @ 8:33am
No problems so far.
ZMan Feb 13, 2023 @ 5:59pm
Same thing happened to me. If the music is playing, JUST WAIT for a little bit. Eventually the screen will show it updating the shaders, then the game loads fine.
AlderKan Feb 26, 2023 @ 7:44am
I had problem with 528.49 - black screen whenever I was playing and left game for a longer time on menu or map...
Noble Nobbler Feb 26, 2023 @ 8:19am
I had a black screen. I waited a few minutes then the shaders recompiled.
Trakais Feb 27, 2023 @ 5:41am
I had over a year old drivers. Had to update to "latest and greatest" so NMS would not crash after Fractal update. Now I get black screen on shader caching, but game still loads if you wait long enough.
