Abandoning quest reverts all accomplished progress during that time

I've been playing this game with my partner and after getting stuck in a quest and being unable to track anything, we decided to abandon the quest in hopes to accept it again and fixing the issue.

But when we abandoned the quest, all of our progress during the time we had the quest accepted, collections gained, items and gear, entirely lost without any warning. This is a huge bug and you shouldn't be losing stuff without warning. This feels like a gigantic oversight on the part of the development team.

100%...during quest I looted town and got some great gear...finishing quest and died to troll...put me back 2 level and all my gear found in town was gone...what a joke!

Happened to me also, lost 2 hours of gameplay - everything, after abandoning a quest.
