Cressida's flying books glitch?

I'm on the side quest to catch Cressida's flying books in the library. I've caught 4 but couldn't find the last one in the main library area. I went down to the restricted section below and I can see it flying around down there, but I can't target it, so now I can't progress the quest.

I googled the quest and I don't think the book is supposed to be down in the restricted section under the library at all. Which makes sense as the quest marker is pointing me to the main library floor.

Has anyone else had this happen? And if so were you able to fix it?

I'm having the same glitch. It seems to count the third book twice. So you catch all five but the count is one short. I reloaded the save and tried again with the same result. I hope it will be fixed on release day.
I'm playing as ravenclaw on pc.

I was able to complete the task by starting another task then coming back and using revelio over and over until you see a blue light flying around the library. Just keep spamming revelio and looking for the blue shadow moving fast.

I am having the same issue. I have no been able to fix it or complete the quest.

I found it on the upper floor after spamming accio for a minute. I did also save load and leave to hogsmeade and return. Accio worked way better than revelio. On PC if that changes things, good luck!

Just find it. It might take a long time but its not bugged.

The audio is helpful if you can't find the last book. Run around and listen for it flying.

the book is suppose to be on the second fl. save and reload should fix the book spawning up stairs. none of the books are in the restricted area.

I've reloaded mine multiple times, as well as completed other various quests. the 5th book in mine is not in the main library. I do see it fly around under the restricted section and then fly up to the main floor but it disappears after.

That was exactly the problem I had!

It's fixed for me now and I was able to complete the quest a few days ago. After the patch/update that downloaded on the 10th or 11th, I decided to run a "Verify integrity of game files" and when I loaded it up after that and went back to that quest it was fixed and I was able to get the last book. I don't know if it was the patch or the verify that fixed it.

To do the verify game files, you have to the game's properties in steam, select "Local Files" and there's an option there called "Verify integrity of game files" It basically checks through all the game files for anything corrupted/broken and replaces those files. It will only fix an issue if that issue is being caused by a corrupt file, but it's usually worth a try if reloading etc. hasn't worked

did it. not on restricted area. its on common area. use revelio to find them easier. and accio your way around :D

Indeed. None of the books in this quest are in restricted area. Perhaps you found a field guide page and thought it was a book.

Often times the best method is not to use aim down sights (hold rightclick) but just look in the general direction of the book and Accio. It seems to catch them better that way.

I also had issues collecting the 5th book for this quest. I saved & reloaded the game, did other quests, leveled up a bit, and came back to the library several times without success. I followed Pinkie Pie's suggestion & "verified all game files" & then reloaded my saved game & viola! The 5th book appeared on the 2nd floor. Yay! This quest almost drove me nuts!
