Crossed Wands 3
Is this bugged? I am just on the normal difficulty and this seems impossible to beat. I lose health so fast, there's zero cover with 4 versus 2, and I can hardly get any damage in on the others before I'm at zero. Something seems off with the balance in this round. I don't believe this game should be THIS difficult. Anyone else having the same issue?

This game on normal can be quite something You can allow one maybe two mistakes. I wonder how hard is.... I kinda like it though.
Build your magic, focus on defense, do not forget talents.

Took me a few times solo. Not sure how much easier it is with another person, but it's definitely doable. Chug a few potions if you need to.

Parry everything or turn down difficulty

you chose solo duel ? i did the same. you must abuse the protego counter into stupefix. focus one. look at the visual cue for counter, that's a red circle with a square around your head. remember you do crit dmg on target that are under a spell effect, leviosa>3 blast accio fire is a good way to supress them. remember that fireblast has a very poor range

I just did this on my own so 1 v 4, took me a few times to figure out just got to be good with your defensive spell. Whatever colour their shield is just attack with that colour spell to break it, just remember that after every few attacks you'll probably be attacked, so use your defensive spell again or be ready to. Using that target lock was helpful even though it still sent my spell to the opposite wall sometimes.

It's ridiculously easy on Normal. All you have to do is spam 'RT' and keep your eyes on your head for the Protego promt. Hold 'Y' and you break their guard with Stupefy, plus get extra damage done. Easiest combat I've seen in a game.
which one is that. is that the "champion round" when its you and your partner against 4 or 5 ? and they all use different colored shields so you have to match the spell to the correct enemy while also dodging constantly or being a fool and trying to use Q.

I did think it was the hardest fight so far, ill get right to the answer you want which is that it is hard but i beat it first try, just use healing potions, this game gives you many potions to heal yourself so you pretty much cant die. i used like, probably almost 5 healing potions, which, i consider an absolute failure, but hey, whats the point of healing potions if we never use them?

now for the long winded answer:
This game has an issue with leveling up. if you level up, enemies also level up. your gear, does not level up. This means if you go and do a bunch of side quests but didnt get enough gear during the last level, you'll be using low level gear. one gear piece took 11 levels to find an upgrade for. So, i'd say, dont farm experience points, but since everything gives you experience points it's hard to avoid, and that would mean just dont play the game so yeah, idk, you'll have to struggle with every level up being a net negative since enemies get stronger but you dont since your gear will get weaker and weaker.

the next point ill make is that at later levels it takes longer to level up which means more time killing things for gear, which means, the higher your level, the more likely you are to end that level with a full set of proper level gear. So, the early leveling pace makes it rough, but if you stick it out to level 20 then you'll find yourself no longer struggling to keep up gear wise.

My last point is to mention strategy. you can use your partner who will levitate one of them, then you can dodge around and focus all your damage on that one. additionally, you can use potions depending on what potions you have unlocked. you can also use plants, i really like that venom plant, its basically a 3rd ally in the fight. pressing Z throws items which break enemy shields automatically, and pressing X automatically kills anything you target, even bosses (so far at least).

Also if you focus on beating up one dude he will eventually drop blue sparkles that will heal you and restore your X.

other than that it realy is just a matter of dodging constantly like you're playing dark souls or the witcher and then laying into one person with everything you've got. I actually think you can't use X on students, so that makes the fight a bit harder too.

Another thing you can do is run a bunch of control spells. Levitate one, stun another, disarm another, eventually you'll get freeze too. this keeps you from dodging so much and lets you spend more time fighting by reducing the enemies you have to fight.

Then you haven't played many games. It's not Dark Souls, but easiest? That's a blatant lie.

Combat on Normal can be challenging. It took me 5 tries to complete this Quest.

Try this-
Go into Settings - Gameplay Options
Turn OFF "Camera-Related Targeting"
Turn "Camera Acceleration" to 0
Turn "Camera sensitivity" to 1.5 (or higher depending on you)

Next - When you see a 'halo' over your head, hit "Protego" then follow that with "Stupify" (Basic Attack) + other spells. Repeat.
Make liberal use of Dodge

I'm playing on hard mode and had no issue soloing it. you just need to practice more, level up and or get better gear.

I have played many games including all the Dark Souls series. HL combat is a joke since automatic Stupefy breaks all enemy guards. Just spam RT and hold Y when prompted.

Perry then break shields. Also don't forget to equip new gear its very easy to forget and then leave yourself with low defense.

Play it on hard like a real man.
Counters don't break shields, so you've got to break them yourself.
