If you have a Ravenclaw character, some dialogue in the beginning with the dormitory door implies that, unlike a ghost, a poltergeist was never a living person.
thanks
The door (which instead of a password asks a philosophical question) asks:
"Which lived longer, the ghost or the poltergeist?"
And the main character answers something like "That which was never alive did not live" or something, which either means a poltergeist was not a person originally, or that both a ghost and a poltergeist are separate from the person they once were and so neither ever lived.
Either way, I took it to mean Peeves just came into existence as he is, like any other magical creature.
There is no age Limitation for reading the books, even my dad read them and he was over 50 at this time
I’m 24 now and just toward the end of last year read and finished all 7 books in less than a couple months.
Although they are meant for kids to grow and become better readers with, they are good books on their own for anyone to read. The fact that they were meant for kids made it much easier for me to get into and read due to how quickly i was able to finish them especially the first 3-4. Only took a week at most to get through the first few and even finished the very first book in one sitting. Have a gander at them or even listen on audio to them. You’ll have a much better understanding of some of the things that are mentioned and why they happen in the game.
There are a LOT of references in the game to things that were much more important in the books than the movies, mostly character names. For instance Voldemort's great-great-grandad or something was a quick cameo exiting the first charms class.
Poltergeists are basically a manifestation of mischief and chaos. The more there is in an area, the stronger the poltergeist is. Because of the nature of Hogwarts, Peeves is one of the strongest poltergeists known to exist. I'd venture that most wizarding schools have a poltergeist in them, just not as strong as Peeves.
