Game maxes out memory usage
I downloaded the game last night and was experience a few crashes. I monitored my task manager while the game was running and saw it was using up to 10,000mb of memory. I wasn’t having any frame issues or even stutters, just the crashing and the ram issue.

My pc meets recommended specs for the high settings and 60fps but I was having this issue just running everything on low settings.

Any advice or comments are helpful

Yeah, it probably should be using 10,000mb of memory.

It consumed about 10-15gb of memory at 1440p max without RT. Don't know if that's intended tho

I have the same issue. I can’t get further than the first ruined tower section without it either just crashing alone, or showing a low level fatal error (ran out of memory allocating 1048576 bytes with alignment 0) then crashing

Yea that’s basically what happened. I have friends playing who were only sitting around 4k while playing on high settings so I don’t know how me sitting in the menu is causing it to use so much memory on low settings.
10gb of ram usage is normal. 32GB is the new standard.

I understand that and will get 32 if I have to, but the minimum is 16 and that won’t even open the game for me. Like I said I meet the recommended requirements
Playing at 4k, I'm using between 21Gb and 25Gb of RAM . LUL

Jesus. I’m just trying to figure out if upgrading to 32 is the solution or not, but if it’s still going to use a ♥♥♥♥ ton of ram like that then I’m not gonna waste the money.

my biggest like issue though is that when i have my task manager open, my memory doesn’t max out past like 88% even when it crashes so i’m not too sure what’s going on. i’m also chilling with 16gb of ram and it’s never ever been an issue before this

if you’re having the same issue as me, check your paging file size. mine was super low for some reason which was causing it to keep crashing. for 16GB of RAM your initial should be 8000mb and max should be 12000mb. check your event log to see why it crashed. if it’s a paging issue/it ran out of virtual memory, changing the paging file size should fix it :)
STOP. Do not do that, and don't tell other people to do it, because you don't know what you're doing. I have to fix these issues for people all the time. If your computer is paging to the point that increasing pagefile size helps, you have a bigger problem you need to fix. You're going to hit a buffer overrun and BSOD your computer VERY easily and repeatedly

I m on 32 and it's peaked around 21 and change. It hasn't gone any higher then that. Is this really a problem or working as intended and people need to upgrade and start adjusting their settings to a demanding game?

I’m not sure. Like I said I don’t mind upgrading, but if 16gb is the recommended ram and the game performs like ♥♥♥♥ with it, they should at least change that in the recommended specs.
I've a lot of crashes and theese are the errors in 3440x1440 ultra no rt

the game shouldn't be using more than the available ram it has even at that resolution, it's probably crashing because of the memory leak issues. More RAM may help, but it using 10 of the 16 shouldn't make it crash. If anything turn off a bunch of background processes or any other applications running at the same time and it will cut down the amount being used while the game is running. Before I run the game I exit out of the top memory hungry apps first, and then I click all the little ones and put them in "environmental mode" or maybe economic. It's in the processes tab of your task manager. When you click a process on the top right it will give you an option to end that task or put it in efficiency economic whatever mode. I too am running the game with 16 gb of RAM at 3440x1440p all ultra with dlss on. The only thing I get is the performance issues where the game runs smooth above 60fps, and randomly drops below 40 and 30 almost to the teens for up to two minutes at a time.

also the 16gb of ram is on resolutions lower than 2560 x 1440p which is the more common resolution also called 2k. 3440x1440p is an ultrawide resolution and therefore requires more video memory and pc ram because it's just a few hundred vertical pixels off from 4k. While 1440p is half double that amount. And then you have to think that amount of pixels has to be rendered dozens of times a second. That adds up exponentially the more frames your gpu is pushing out versus how much memory it has to do it. Then that adds to latency because your cpu has to wait for it to be available. 1440p and above gaming, along with the incredibly memory hungry regular applications that we have running on a PC all the time (try opening about 30 tabs on chrome and see how much memory you have available when steam, and other gaming service apps like it are eating up almost a gig of ram each when in use.
