"Preparing Shaders". Every. Time. I. Start. The. Game.
Are the shaders meant to load every single time I start the game. It takes a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long time and I'm REALLY, REALLY over it.

Does any one else have this issue or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Seems to only preload a small number of shaders after the first launch.

Yeah First time, it takes around a minute, then it's only a few seconds on launch.
Maybe it depends on your GPU, I don't know.

Shaders are meant to be done ONCE and that's it. Not over and over again. This is a bug, surely.

Same issue plus I have another bug when I go to the village when the trees and bushes seems to reload over and over again. I tryed to report the bug yesterday in their official Discord but users and mods where fighting each other about the trans rights or something like that. I'm done with this game, I hope Steam give me a refund.

3070 here and game runs pretty well for the most part 70-100fps not including the dips everyone is having currently. I get a one minute "preparing shaders" every single time. Except randomly it will take up to 5 minutes for some reason. There are issues with this I hope. No other games I have does this after the initial start or system change. Also it doesn't seem to happen on my Steamdeck at all. Hope they can patch it and all the other performance issues seen currently.

3080Ti and right there with you. However I don’t notice it on my Steam Deck (might be launching and looking away). So perhaps it’s a NVIDIA or Windows issue? I’m in the latest W10 22H2 I believe.

Gotta be a bug, no other game compiles every time like this one. Kinda annoying too having to wait like 20 seconds, worst than unskippable opening movies.

That's a design decision, not a bug. It's intentional.

This game is fun but the graphics and performance are bad.

Yeah its annoying. Its the first game ever (as far as I know) doing it every single time. They should have asked other developers how to deal with that cause everyone else does it right.

TBH currently its actually the other way around.

HL is one of a few games which actually uses the UnrealEngine Feature to create the shaders at start, which reduce shader stuff while playing! (HZD and TTWL does this also)

after those are created the next time you start the game they're getting checked/loaded into ram/vram
Install location will be C:\ProgramData\Hogwarts Legacy which is unchangable without OS modding. So if your C:\ Drive is slow you have to wait quite long.

Everytime you update your GPU driver, update HL or changing hardware -
the shaders needs to be re-created.

Working like intended. First time it compiles, then subsequent times it loads them. Just see it as a loading screen. There is a mod that removes that screen but you still have to wait for the shaders to load (so literally useless mod except if you have crashes on that screen)

Have none of you guys played tiny Tina wonderlands???? it makes you load shaders EVERY START UP its the dragon going across the stream. TBH most games probably do it as well they just run in the background of the starting advertisements for the creators AND/BUT they probably load WAY faster.

Monster Hunter Rise did it too... at least until I got a mod to avoid it.
There is a mod to avoid it for this game too, and it works.
