Yeah First time, it takes around a minute, then it's only a few seconds on launch.
Maybe it depends on your GPU, I don't know.
3070 here and game runs pretty well for the most part 70-100fps not including the dips everyone is having currently. I get a one minute "preparing shaders" every single time. Except randomly it will take up to 5 minutes for some reason. There are issues with this I hope. No other games I have does this after the initial start or system change. Also it doesn't seem to happen on my Steamdeck at all. Hope they can patch it and all the other performance issues seen currently.
TBH currently its actually the other way around.
HL is one of a few games which actually uses the UnrealEngine Feature to create the shaders at start, which reduce shader stuff while playing! (HZD and TTWL does this also)
after those are created the next time you start the game they're getting checked/loaded into ram/vram
Install location will be C:\ProgramData\Hogwarts Legacy which is unchangable without OS modding. So if your C:\ Drive is slow you have to wait quite long.
Everytime you update your GPU driver, update HL or changing hardware -
the shaders needs to be re-created.
There is a mod to avoid it for this game too, and it works.
