Shadows stop rendering near edge of screen?
Why do games do this, I think I have seen this in other games. Shadows stop rendering OFF the screen would make sense, but near the edge makes it look awful as you turn and move around because it looks like constant pop in.

Anyone else see this and is there a fix for it? It's super distracting. (This may be mostly in indoor areas? I am only just now inside Hogwarts)

Shame too because the game looks gorgeous.

I haven't found ANY fixes for this. It also happens over water. Sorry, hopefully it will get fixed soon

Cyberpunk 2077 had the same issue. I think it's just part of the engine's rendering process.

Haven't noticed this with shadows, but it's pretty obvious with reflections. Reason is the way this type of (non raytraced) reflections work: They only reflect what's visible on screen.

So, for example, if an object that is supposed to be reflected disappears outside one of the upper corners of the screen, the reflective surface in the lower part of the screen no longer shows the reflection of that object. That's the case in a lot of games that use this type of reflection.

Might be the same for some shadows of objects not currently visible on screen.

I have noticed this in all recent games..I HATE IT. So jarring. Even in Sons of the Forest it happens. It happens with shadows and lighting, it causes weird aura's around stuff and gives appearance of pop in and stuff. So dumb.

Especially noticeable over water, or near edges like walls or a mountain Etc.

This is just issues with rasterization and “optimizations”
