They tried to balance things up (no evil school)
I get why, but that's a big departure from the books.
Snek house hasn't turned heel yet.
it's not because you are slytherin that you are always a douche, and it's not because they are protrayed as douche in Harry potter that every slytherin is.
each house represents a way of thinking pretty much, Slytherin is just a place for people that are cunning, have ambitions and seek power.
does is proportionally has more C-U-N-T than other house, sure, that's because people in search of power and have ambition will tend to be ... but not all.
just like you could very well find A-OLE in gryphindor. for instance, by Severus Snape standards, Harry's Father was a bully.
HufflePuff is like ... the people usually good at heart, which is why it's the house with the lowest wizard turned dark, and slytherin the higest, but that means even the righteous gryphindor produce dark wizards.
the House you end up with is just to put likeminded people with similar aspiration together. technically makes it easier to have camaraderie as well.
seriously tho majority of Slytherin students are completely normal, they aren't all dark wizards waiting to murder all mudbloods. If they were all evil I doubt they would just be hanging out attending school with all the other kids.
If you wanna see "true" Slytherin, forget Malfoy or Voldemort and look at Slughorn.
