This Hogwarts, is very different from movies Hogwarts
Probably just me, but I found very little familiar places in Hogwarts Legacy, not to mention that infamous Grand Staircase is completely different from the movie one. I know it's 1800s and all that, but it seems that until movies timeline Hogwarts has gone through some major overhaul/s

I mean, having magic probably makes it even easier to change it around.

The game likely needed the school to have a functional layout for game design purposes. Also i imagine magic makes it much easier to switch things up.

I believe they're used the books to build the world. I've not read them but I assume the movies changed things from the original source.

Movies make several changes to the layout that don't fit the books. This is more accurate.

Do you think they had in mind that one day there will be a game that faithfully tries to rebuild the castle they've imagined while doing the outside shots for the first movies? The hogwarts from the movies is essentially what we have ingame from a building perspective (outside view), but what they've done in the movies is just put different sets together and create a miniature or CGI Castle from the outside.

What I'm trying to say is what we know and love as Hogwarts is basically the outside view from the castle, now if you'd try to fit everything in there you need to make some adjustments which they've done in this game. Imo think it fits pretty well.

Did you forget how much hogwarts changed between the movies too? The Hogwarts in Philosophers STone isn't remotely anything close to the same layout, design, or interior as the one in Prisoner of Azkaban, and dthe one in Prisoner isn't even the same as the one in the final movie.

Far as I'm concerned It's almost lore friendly that HOgwarts changes here and there each year.

Pretty sure they made this game based off the books and only used some inspiration from the films.

True. Although I remember the HP 5 game, and imho back then devs kinda nailed it with setting up the castle from the movies into the game, tho it was way smaller than in HL, and served mostly as fan museum.

If you visit the statue of the Hogwarts architect outside the great hall, It will tell you that he created it alongside Rowena Ravenclaw, who is credited with creating it's ever changing floor plan. There you go... a wizard and a witch did it

Also it is known the school went threw changes.. strong changes threw out its years. All the bathrooms were Redone and who knows what else. It's kind of cool to learn more about the Architect threw out the years has gone threw growth.
